John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner: Review and Swatches

Hi loves! Today I really wanted to share with you two hair products that I have really been loving for the past couple of months and they are John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Colour Review Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner and they are meant (and they do) to reduce the brassiness that some blond hairs tend to have.

When I first saw these products I was a little skeptical about them really working, because over the past few years, since I was dying my hair I’ve tried many “color-toning” product and honestly I couldn’t see much of a deference in my hair. This duo, however, is incredible – it really does remove the brassy/yellow tones and makes my hair much cool toned and even a bit lighter, which is exactly how I love it. For the amazing effect the main contribution has the purple color of both products (especially the deep purple of the shampoo). If you take a look at the color wheel you’ll see that the opposite color of the yellow is purple, and that’s why the two colors kind of neutralize each other and you have a nice non-brassy hair. :)) On the John Frieda’s website  it says that The formula, containing Colour-Correcting Technology, neutralises brassy and yellow tones” and “The formula, containing Optical Brightening Technology, absorbs UV light and emits white-blue light, making colour-treated hair appear brighter and salon-fresh”. What more can I say.., it really does all that and I absolutely love the result! :))

The Conditioner
Now, if I have to be a hundred percent honest with you, guys, I don’t use the conditioner that often, because I feel like that the shampoo does an incredible job on its own, but I still like to use it once in a while. What I usually do is I use the Correcting Shampoo once or twice a week, depending on how my hair is doing. I shampoo, lather and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then I rinse my hair. After, I condition my hair either using the John Fried conditioner or some other one and I am left with nice, brassy-free hair! It’s easy as that! :))

Oh, and also I like how the shampoo actually cleanses my hair, but I would advise you to use a good conditioner or a hair masque after using the shampoo, because it can be a bit drying.

One more thing I am crazy about this lovely duo is that both the shampoo and the conditioner smell amazing!! The scent has light citrus undertones that remind me a lot of tangerines (perfect for the holiday season) and it can actually be noticed during the whole day! :))

The shampoo and the conditioner retail for about $6 each.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this duo if you are someone who is combating the brassy/yellow hair! They really do amazing job! :))

Have an amazing beginning of the new week and I’ll talk with you really soon! :))

XO,
Andrea

  1. Agree that the shampoo is drying. Leaves my hair very knotty but it is great at reducing brassiness

  2. Thanks for the review :) I would be a little worried actually about using a toner shampoo on a regular basis since it might make my hair dry out. (I already have super dry hair.) You said you tried other toners. Can you recommend any other brands? xx thanks a million.

    1. You're welcome dear! <3 And I can see why you are worried, but I personally think that it doesn't dry out the hair much and with good quality hair masque for example your hair should be Ok (I use Macadamia Deep Hair Repair masque and my hair is super soft and shiny afterwards). As for another toning shampoo, I like Lush's Daddy-O a lot. It doesn't dry out my hair, leaves it smooth and pretty, but I think that for banishing the brassiness the John Fried one works a bit better! :))
