Benefit Fine One One Review, Photos and Swatches

Hello loves! Hope you are having a marvelous weekend, I know I do! :)) Today I have something very special to share with you and this is a product that I wanted the second I saw! Yes, I am talking about the new Benefit Fine One One sheer brightening color for cheeks & lips

I was at the mall a couple of days ago and I decided to pay a quick visit to Sephora cuz I wanted to check if they have anything new in-stock. I was just about to leave when the assistance lady came to me, we started chatting and I asked her when Benefit Cosmetics is about to officially release in my country’s Sephora. She said March (which I’m super pumped about!) and told me that they now only have the “Fine One One” in the store but it’s “hidden” in the drawers, for some reason.  Super bizarre, if you ask me, but the important thing is that I DID get it!! I am happy that I found it and had the chance to try it! If you remember my 2013 Beauty Wish List then you know that I was dying to get this product a.s.a.p.! :)

Enough rambling for now, let’s talk about the actual product now! :)) So the “Fine One One” is a three colored cheek and lip brightener. Basically, what it’s supposed to do is to contour, shape and illuminate your cheeks. It also should give a nice pop of color to the lips.

The product has tree colors in the stick – pink champagne (the highlighter), sheer watermelon (the color that actually gives the blush effect) and soft coral (I think it serves kind of as a bronzer and helps contouring). What you do is – you get the stick, place it on top of the apple on your cheek and glide the stick towards your temple. You will end up having three distinct lines of color. Then, using your ring finger, start to gently blend the three colors with circular motions. And VOILA! You now have lovely coral-pink blush and also nicely contoured face! At this point you can also add a little bit more of the highlighter on the cheekbones for some extra glow (or, obviously you can put another highlighter on top)! :)) Since I am very pale I absolutely adore the color and shape this product gives to my cheeks. I am not sure, however, how it will look on darker skin tones. I think it may not show up much because it’s relatively light shade.

The application is average, to be honest. I feel like the product is not creamy enough and as a result you need to pressure it down when applying. This is not a major issue for me, though. On a brighter note, I’d say that the product definitely doesn’t rub out neither the concealer, nor the foundation that you may have underneath. This is a big plus for me, because cream blushes tend to do that!

As for lips, I wouldn’t advise you to use it there! Firstly, it is super difficult to apply because as I already said the consistency of the stick is not creamy enough. Secondly, once you managed to actually get some even color, the lips get SO dry and trust me - the feeling is nasty! Because I have naturally quite dry lips when I applied this my lips actually started peeling!! :( I even tried to use a lip balm underneath but it didn’t make any difference, tbh! I’ll definitely keep this away from my lips and from now on I’ll use it strictly on my cheeks!

The packaging is lovely (even though it kind of reminds me of a baby deodorant lol!). It’s really pretty rose gold color which I’m all about these days! It’s really compact and the product can be easily carried in your makeup bag in case you need to touch up throughout the day! :))

In a nutshell, I would have to say that I like the product but I don’t love it as much as I thought I would! The “Fine One One” is a great product that gives a beautiful pop of color and shape to the cheeks. But the way my lips reacted to it was absolutely ridiculous, especially for the prize of 30$!!

Hope you enjoyed this review and found it helpful! Have an amazing week and I’ll see you again very soon! <33

Andrea

    1. Thank you lovely! :)) I recommend you getting it if you like the color! Just be careful when you put it in you lips! If they start to dry better rub it out before they start to peel! :))

  4. I just picked this one up yesterday. What a coincidence! I haven't tried it on my lips but after reading your review, I wouldn't dare to. I find it a bit tricky to try to position it right so the highlight color would show up on the right spot on my cheekbones.

    1. Definitely agree! It can be a bit tricky because of the natural curve of the cheeks! That's why I like to put extra highlighter on top! :))

  8. I really wanted this product, but it's a bit pricey for me. If it was creamier I might have to splurge!

    1. It's quite pricey, I agree! It would have been justified if it was creamier and more hydrating on the lips. I still quite like it though! It really gives beautiful glow to the cheeks! :))

  14. Thanks for your honest review! I do agree that its so hard to find a cream blush that doesn't rub out all that concelear and powder underneath! I've been pretty happy with Physician's Formula so far-I'm sure there's better out there, but for the price I am very happy!

  17. Hmm it's too bad that it's not creamy enough, that is kind of a downfall... I probably will pass on this product as it only seems so-so!

    1. It most certainly is a downfall! If it was creamier it would of been much much nicer product! I still quite like it because of the gorgeous shade which compliments my skin tone so well, but I wouldn't say that it is a must-have product!

  23. Hello dolly.

Being a Benebabe myself, I was so excited for this product to come out and to be honest although I do like it, I'm not beaming and raving about it. I think Benefit has done so many amazing products and this just doesn't live up to the brand in my opinion. The packaging I think is beyond tacky, like you say, not so cosmetic. However, I do love the colour of the watermelon middle shade.

I don't want to sound like I'm moaning on your review haha, I was just so disappointed in this product and wanted to see how other people had responded to it!

    Lots of love, Jayde Paris
