Sigma Cleansing and Polishing Tool

Hello my darlings! How have you been? I am really happy at the moment and wanted to take a second to thank you all for the amazing support that you’ve giving me for the past months! I hit 1400+ followers on GFC and 1000+ on Bloglovin and you seriously have no idea how thankful and happy I am! Thank you so much for following and commenting on my blog, this really means the world to me!! <3 Now for the actual post today I wanted to share one of my Holy Grail skincare tools, whish has made my skin SO much better. As you probably guessed it right from the title I am talking about Sigma’s Cleansingand Polish Tool ($43). This little pink baby is such a skin saver and definitely worth reviewing. Hope you’ll enjoy! (:

About a year and a half ago I was considering getting the oh-so-famous Clarisonic Mia ($119 – $235). I had nearly placed my order when suddenly I decided that I actually don’t need it at the moment and canceled the order (silly me, I know). Then a couple months later I started looking for reviews online and saw that many people actually say that Sigma’s tool is like a twin sister of the Clarisonic and that they actually work the same. I was really intrigued and immediately ordered me one. It seemed like a fab product and not to mention that the price difference is huge!

The Sigma Cleansing and Polishing Tool came in a really gorgeous pink box (gotta love Sigma’s packaging!) and when you open it up there is a really pretty plastic box with a pink transparent lid. Inside the box there are the actual device and three brush head attachments. Oh, there was also a leaflet with instructions but sadly I lost it somewhere. :( I absolutely ADORE the look of the plastic box, it is so pretty and it looks so lovely on top of my skincare cabinet! <3 The actual device is white with some pink (you can’t choose deferent color, pink is the only option) elements and it fits right into the palm. It is quite lightweight so don’t worry – it won’t exhaust your hand. :) The device is battery operated so you’ll need to get two AA batteries because they are not included in the kit. The Cleansing Tool has two speeds, which I love and it is also water resistant, not waterproof so don’t use it under running water! As I said The Polishing Tool comes with three head attachments and they actually rotate as you use the tool. According to Sigma they are:

1.Soft – Recommended for daily facial cleansing and polishing
2. Medium – Prefect for daily, all over, body exfoliation
3. Firm – Recommended for deeper body exfoliation or dry areas such as the elbows, knees and heels.

So the first time I used the tool I didn’t read that you are supposed to use the tool for maximum a minute on the face. I used it for about 2 minutes because it felt really lovely on the skin and I was stupidly thinking that the more you rub it the best and I couldn’t be more wrong! After I finished my skin was hurting so badly and it was super red. I panicked and immediately read the leaflet and noticed that I should’ve stuck to the 1-minute rule. Anyway, I let my skin recover for about a week and gave the device another shot. This time I used it for under a minute and the result was remarkable! My skin was feeling so soft and smooth as it has never been! So far so good BUT as I was using is for about 5 days my skin started to breakout a lot, which is not something that I’m used to. I remembered that quite a few people had similar problem using Clarisonic or the Sigma Tool. I read online again and turner out that this is a common reaction of the skin and if I continue using the tool it will soon clear out. And it did! In two weeks time my skin was absolutely flawless, so soft and smooth! The question whether I should continue using this or not was a hard one but I am really happy that I didn’t stop because the Cleansing and Polishing Tool is now an absolute essential in my skincare routine!

The thing I love most about this miracle worker is that really cleanses my skin deeply and it unclogs my pores. I find it really difficult to achieve such results with just a regular face wash and a scrub. This stuff really exfoliates and removes the gunk like nothing else. It has also helped me massively (with the help of LushAqua Marina cleanser) with acne scaring and hyperpigmentation! After I use this, my skin is so unbelievably smooth and soft and I want to stroke it all day haha! I also find that it helps with the application of makeup as well just cuz the face is so even and smooth and the makeup goes on really easily! As for the body – I LOVE it too. Again, it removes the dead skin brilliantly and my skin is SO smooth and lovely! <33 Oh, forgot to mention that the brushes clean really easily too, which is definitely a plus! They eventually wear off a bit and need replacement but Sigma offers replacement brushes ($10 each) so don’t worry!

The thing with this Cleansing and Polishing Tool is that everyone needs to adjust and customize their own routine with it. Even though Sigma gives some basic guidelines every skin is different and requires different approaches. It took me a while to figure out what mine is but eventually I did and I am really pleased with the results. I like to use this at night after I removed my makeup, which is actually recommended by Sigma. I use my Bioderma and then I go under the shower. I put a little of my favorite Purity Cleansing Balm by REN on top of the soft brush head and on the first speed I start to gently massage it onto my skin. Then for a couple of seconds I turn the device on second speed and run it only through my T-zone. I then just rinse my face and the brush and follow up with toner and moisturizer. Once every two weeks I’d use the medium brush all over my face as kind of “deeper exfoliation” but if you have sensitive skin I don’t recommend doing this because the brush could be too harsh on you! For my body, I love using the tool every day or every other day with the medium brush and on second speed. I use my Soap & Glory Clean on Me Shower Gel and my skin feels soft like a baby bum hah! Also, once a week I use the firm head on the driest / firmest areas of my body like my elbows, my knees and heels and I really love how the dead skin is removed and the skin is super soft! I sometime use the firm one on my entire legs as well and I like how it not only makes my skin silky but it also improves my blood circulation! <3

Now like most products there are things I am not too fond about this Sigma Cleansing and Polishing Tool. The first thing is that it obviously broke me out really badly at the beginning but since my skin is good now I am willing to forgive this haha! Another thing I hate about this is that it is quite messy to use. When you turn it on it starts to spill foam all over the bathroom so I need to use it under the shower (away from the water, don’t worry)! Since I use it only in the shower the fact that it’s not waterproof makes me really scared and annoyed that it may broke!! It would’ve been also really nice if the tool had 1 minute timer so you don’t get carried away and use it for over a minute but oh well…

Overall, I really really LOVE this Sigma Cleansing and Polishing tool. Sure it has some flaws but for $43 I can’t really complaint. I absolutely adore how my skin looks and feels like when I use this and the fact that it’s so well cleansed makes me really happy to recommend it to you all! If you are looking for a good, cheaper version of the Clarisonic this device should be a great alternative. I haven’t used the Clarisonic yet but I am really curious to give it a try and compare them both! :) Until then, I am super pleased with the Sigma tool and I love the condition of my skin! <3 I really hope you enjoyed this review! Have a great week ahead loves! :))

Have you tried the Sigma Cleansing and Polishing Tool? What do you think of it? Do you own the Clarisonic and what are the differenced between the two? (:

Lots of love,
Andrea

  5. I'm so pleased it worked for you. I have it and reviewed it about 4 months ago.. and it's just too harsh for my sensitive skin :( I'm so gutted, as it started out being amazing. Although it's been a godsend, as it's helped me to realise that the clarisonic would be too much for my skin, so it's saved me a lot of money hehe. Fantastic review honey xxx

  9. This would really come in handy for me, actually. I've been looking into buying something that will help with body dead skin, as well as a facial cleanser/exfoliator. I need to see if this is for sale in the UK.

P.S. - do try the mask, I'm so addicted to its smell!

  20. I have the Clarisonic Mia and it is seriously the best skin care investment I have made! Drastically improved the texture of my skin, helped me get rid of scarring and prevent breakouts! :D The Sigma tool seems to be pretty good too though, so if you're on a budget it's a good alternative! :D

  23. This sounds like a great alternative to the Clarisonic! I don't like the idea of it making your face break out though... why would that happen? They should really make the device waterproof as well.
