Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream: Review & Swatches

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

Hi dolls! How is everything going, I hope you are all well and had a fab start of the week! I feel really great and I literally cannot wait to be Friday already and be a birthday girl! Not that I’m anxious to be hitting the 23 (What?) mark but my birthday means that I’ll get to spend some quality time with friends and family, which makes me super happy and excited! I haven’t planned anything super huge as I don’t really feel like having a crazy party and I’d much more enjoy just a little gathering with the people I love! (:

For today, I wanted to talk about a product that has been my best friend during the hot summer days, which we’ve been having recently. Yes, you guessed it right – I’m talking about the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream ($8.99 / £7.99).  This little guy is without a doubt my absolutely favorite BB cream and I absolutely swear by it! I know many people are quite unsure about the whole BB cream (BB stands for blemish balm or beauty balm for those of you who don’t know) hype and to be honest I was hesitant before I tried this too. I am someone who usually loves medium to full coverage foundations so knowing that most BB creams have pretty light coverage made me pretty sure I wouldn’t like them. However, when I first used the Maybelline Dream Fresh on my face I was so pleasantly surprised and instantly fell in love with it!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream claims to be a brilliant 8-in-1 product, which will help blur imperfections, enhance and brighten up the face, smooth and hydrate; it is 100% oil free and has SPF 30. Pretty big promises, huh? Now, I am not absolutely sure that it actually does all of those things but I think it’s safe to say that it definitely improves the look of my skin. The BB cream has pretty decent coverage (for a BB cream anyway) and gives a nice light to medium coverage to my skin. I have the shade ‘Light’ and it evens out my skin tone very well and indeed brightens up my complexion. It gives a beautiful dewy glow, which is definitely not greasy (*cough* Garnier Miracle Skin Perfectror) and my face looks so much youthful and healthier, which I love. This product is great to use on those days when your skin feels/looks a bit dull, it’s definitely the perfect pick-me-up! As far as hiding blemishes and acne scaring/hyperpigmentation goes, I am afraid that you’ll have to use concealer on top of the BB cream because it doesn’t seem to do much in this department. If you have oily skin or it gets a bit oilier in the T-zone, I’d also suggest you to use a powder on top so you won’t need to worry about being shiny throughout the day. Also, I’ve recently seen that Maybelline came out with a new BB cream, called DreamPure. It’s basically the same as the Dream Fresh but it’s better for people with oily skin, so you may want to check this one as well! :)

What I also really enjoy in this BB cream is the way it feels on my skin. It is SO lightweight (it’s water based) and it feels as if I have only moisturizer on, which is perfect for summer. It is not in the slightest cakey and leaves the skin so smooth and soft. This stuff is seriously such a massive savior during the hot, humid days because it’s not only super light but it also stays in place the whole day! This BB cream is so moisturizing and definitely hydrates really well, which is super important for someone like me who doesn’t like their dry patches to be accentuated! As I’ve mentioned earlier, Dream Fresh BB has SPF 30, which is always great to have but I still recommend you using another SPF product underneath, especially during the summer. Better be safe then sorry! ;) What I like to do is to first cleanse my skin, put on some moisturizer and SPF and then let it all sink into my skin. Then using my fingers (I find that they work better than any of my brushes for this specific product) I just gently distribute the desired amount on my entire face and down my neck. The BB cream could be build up a bit but don’t expect miracles as far as coverage goes. I also wanted to mention that this product has never broken me out and it doesn’t clog my pores, which is brilliant! (: The Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream comes in five different shades so hopefully you’ll find the perfect color for you. I have the lightest shade called ‘Light’ (how creative!) and I’d saw it’s perfect match for my pale skin, I am NW20 in MAC for reference. Since I’ve started getting a bit tanned now the sun has decided to cheer us up with its presence, I think I’ll have to get the next, darker shade! :)

In a nutshell (preferably pistachio one haha), I really adore this product for the summer. Even though it doesn’t give the most amazing coverage, it feels SO lightweight and it brightens up my face so beautifully! It is really hydrating and the fact that it has SPF 30 in it makes me love it even more. I highly recommend this to anyone and I would definitely repurchase! This stuff makes my skin look and feel lovely, it’s affordable and it has such a cute, girly packaging, I mean what more could I ask for? :))

Have you ever tried this BB cream? Do you like it? Which is your favorite BB cream?

Lots of love,

  16. I've heard great stuff about this. Maybelline also has a good color range for their BB cream, which most other companies don't.

  18. I love your blog! I'm so undecided on this product. I tried rimmels bb cream and didn't like it so I switched to this one. I think it's great as a base but not so great to be used as foundation alone. Follow me via GFC and I'll follow you, doll! <3

  31. My favorite BB's is the dewy one from Dr Jardt. However, they started putting octinoxate in theirs, so I'm back searching one without that :/
