Hi lovelies! Anyone else excited for the weekend? I am literally counting down the minutes till tomorrow when I’ll be celebrating my birthday with all my loved ones! <3 With that being said, I was thinking of making a FOTD Birthday edition post so if you’re interested to see this please let me know! As you are reading this, I am actually in a very special place out of town, which I haven’t been to in 10 years. It’s a nice camping (ish) area, which I loved visiting with my grandparents and cousins when we were little. For some reason every year before my birthday I get somehow nostalgic and I’ve been wanting to go back there and just have a little walk down memory lane. Recently, I’ve had this strange need to kind of ‘seal’ every valuable memory of places or people even deeper into my mind so when my boyfriend surprised me with this trip I couldn’t be happier! :))
Stop rambling, Andrea! Anyway… the other day I actually decided to put some order into my nail polish collection and I rediscovered SO many lovely shades, which I haven’t been wearing in months. The highlight of which was this Models Own nail polish in Lemon Meringue (£5), which I showed you in my Top 5 Spring nail polishes post. I don’t know about you, but for SO many years my biggest difficulty nail polish wise had been the finding of the perfect yellow color! It was just mission impossible for me, they all were either too light or too dark, too muddy or dirty-looking or just had terrible consistency! And then one day I walked into the River Island shop on Oxford Street in London and I saw it – Lemon Meringue, the perfect yellow! <3 It is this gorgeous pastel-y sunny yellow, which is even better than I’d imagined it! Lemon Meringue has beautiful creamy finish and doesn’t have any glitter or shimmer in it. It is SO soft and gentle that I can’t stop staring at it when it’s on my nails because it’s really calming and refreshing. :) This nail polish definitely resembles the sunny spring / summer days and I think it’s just perfect for the warmer months, look at it - it’ so happy and it also makes my hands looks tanned, which I adore! <3
The application of Lemon Meringue is okay. It goes on a bit streaky, but I mean - have you ever tried a yellow polish, which doesn’t do that? For some reason I find that they all do, so I’m willing to pass that. To get the color perfectly even, you will need to apply at least two coats. The polish dries out relatively quickly and gives pretty glossy finish. What I am not too happy about in this product though is the size of the brush, which is waaaay too small for my liking. I definitely prefer wider, flat brushes (like the Essie ones) because they usually prevent from streaking and are really easy to work with. On my nails Lemon Meringue stays for some good 4-5 days without chipping and with minor tip wear, which I was pleasantly surprised about.
Overall, I am so incredibly happy with the color of this nail polish so I don’t really care that it’s a bit tricky to apply! As you may know I adore pastels and this soft pastel, sunny yellow shade is definitely right up my alley. If you are like me and have been trying to find your perfect yellow shade, I highly recommend you checking this one out; I’m sure it won’t disappoint you! <3
Have you ever tried Lemon Meringue? Which is your favorite yellow nail polish?
Lots of love,
