Hello cupcakes! Yesterday I realized that I have never shared my thoughts on this little beaut here and since for me this is one of the prettiest summer lip glosses on the market, I decided to take the opportunity and review it for you all today. Before I jump into the review though I wanted to mention that this product was such a paint to photograph and I couldn’t for the life of me take a decent photo of the gloss on my lips so I’m sorry for the lack of it but it just didn’t want to cooperate!
For me, Pink Lemonade ($15 /£14) is one of those shades that when you see it for the first time you know that it eventually has to be part of your makeup collection because it’s just sooo pretty and gorgeous. Well my ‘eventually’ happened to be exactly two days from the day I saw it to the day I got it. Last summer I heard Ingrid (Missglamorazzi on YouTube) rave about this and I fell in love with the shade straight away so I went out and bought it and I still can’t go pass how gorgeous this color is! As MAC describe it, it is a beautiful flamingo pink and I feel like it has some noticeable coral-y tones to it as well. The lipglass has very finely milled golden shimmer in it, which gives a lovely glossy finish to the lips without making them look super glittery. I absolutely love how subtle the shimmer is and the sheen this stuff gives is incredible! <3 Pink Lemonade, as most of the MAC glosses I’ve tried, is quite pigmented and could be worn as a more subtle wash of color or could be build up to more intense color. It has a nice vanilla (ish) scent to it, which is pretty nice and definitely not overpowering.
Sadly though the formula of the MAC lipglasses is not right up my street. If you’ve tried them you probably know what I’m talking about… They are sticky! Crazy sticky! I know that some people don’t mind that but honestly it bothers me a lot and this has been the reason not to wear Pink Lemonade as often as I’d like. The lipglass comes with a nice doe foot applicator and when I apply it on my lips I feel as if I’m putting glue on (okay, slight exaggeration but you know what I mean). Hence the tackiness, I find this product quite tricky to apply. It is such a pain to spread the color evenly on the lips and you will definitely have to smooth it out with your finger after you’re done with the applicator. Once you’ve done that though you’re pretty much set because as with any sticky gloss this will last ages on your lips. Surprisingly for me, Pink Lemonade doesn’t dry out my lips at all. It has infused Jojoba Oil in it, which ‘softens and conditions the lips’. What I really enjoy about this product is that it gives my lips a beautiful ‘juicy’ / ‘plump’ look, which I think is always nice to have.
In a nutshell, I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite lip glosses as far as the color goes – it’s love! However, the terribly sticky formula of Pink Lemonade is a massive downfall for me and because of it I don’t reach out for this product very often. If you prefer sticky glosses because they tend to stay on for longer then I’m sure you’ll absolutely love this. As for me, I always check what’s the weather outside and if it’s windy I put this beaut back into my purse! ;)
Have you tried Pink Lemonade before? How do you like it? Which is your favorite lip gloss at the moment?
Lots of love,
