Hello pretties, hope you are all doing well? I used to be a massive eyeliner wearer; I’d always wear it on nights out or just on an everyday basis, every single day. However, when my trusty L’Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim Liquid Eyeliner ran low I didn’t go get me a new one for some reason. I guess I was just too lazy or maybe the fact that I suddenly started liking how my eyes look without eyeliner took its toll, but either way – for the past few months I’ve been barely using any eyeliner. When I was in London last month though, I met up with my boyfriend’s sister for a day and she surprised me with a copy of August’s issue of Marie Claire, which came with free Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner in Black. I was extremely excited to try it out as I’ve heard fab things about Eyeko and how incredible their products are. Needless to say that when I came back home, I immediately started using it and my obsession with eyeliners started all over again! :)

At first I was absolutely blown away by how brilliant this liquid eyeliner was. It was everything I wanted and more! My excitement didn’t last too long though because recently I’ve discovered something that put Eyeko’s liner on the bench, but we’ll get there. For now let’s discuss the packaging, shall we! As a person who gets easily attracted by pretty packaging I’d say that this one is a complete winner for me. The little blue and pink box that the liner comes in is so eye catching and fun! I love it so much that I haven’t thrown it away yet and I still keep the product inside, which is a first for me haha. The eyeliner itself is this beautiful sleek silver pen, which is really sturdy and feels so comfortable in my hands. The applicator has a felt-tip, which is my favorite type of applicator because it gives me great precision and control over the application. The nib is the perfect size as well, which is a big deal for me. Most eyeliners I’ve tried are either too long or too short but this one is on point, which makes the application process even easier. The great thing about Eyeko’s eyeliner is that it is, as they say, ‘foolproof’. Even if you are new to liquid eyeliner, you will find this one really easy to work with, I’m sure. I find it so effortless to create the perfect cat eye! The liner is also great if you want to achieve both very thin and thicker line, which is always good to have.

The Skinny Liquid Eyeliner has an amazing finish. It is just that perfect glossy almost ‘wet’ finish that I always seek in my eyeliners. Also, the color pay off is amazing – it is really deep, intense black, which only needs one coat to be fully opaque. The Eyeko eyeliner is supposed to be smudge and fade-proof and I can agree. It has never smudged or flaked on me but I’ve noticed that around the 4th hour mark the glossiness is gone and I am left with more matte line. I don’t mind that but it is just something I’ve found. Apart from that, I can honestly say that the staying power of this product is amazing as it stays put for an entire day.

So far so good! As you can imagine I was absolutely in love with this eyeliner and I was praising it in front of all my friends saying how brilliant it was! Until last week when I’ve noticed that my beloved, nearly brand new eyeliner has started to dry out. A lot. By the beginning of this week it has become almost completely dry and unusable. I want to point out that I am a hundred percent sure that the lid was fully closed each time I was using the product so I know it’s not my fault. It might have picked up a poor one but I definitely think this is absolutely unacceptable especially if you’re paying £10, which I luckily did not. What I do now to prolog the eyeliner’s life a bit more is just put a drop or two of warm water at the back of my hand and swirl the tip in it. This way I still can get some product out and create a decent line but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to do that for before the product becomes completely useless… It is such a shame!

In a nutshell, I have very mixed feelings about this eyeliner. I absolutely LOVE how precise and easy to work with it is, I love the beautiful glossy finish and the gorgeously opaque black color but I just can’t get over the fact that it dried out in less than a month! Please let me know if you’ve ever encountered this problem with the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. If yes, then sadly I will not be repurchasing. Unfortunately, in this case the one negative thing about this product completely outshines the all the positive ones.

Have you ever tried the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner? How do you like it? Has it dried out as quickly as it has with me?

Lots of love,

  2. I've been using a pencil eye liner for years but have just ventured into the felt-tip pen style and would like to try this one out too as I might be able to use it better, so will see :)

  5. I have the exact same feelings - absolutely loved it, but it dried out so ridiculously quickly. I was hoping I'd somehow got a faulty one too and they weren't all that bad... Such a shame to hear it's obviously a problem with all of them!

  6. Great review! I had the same experience when I used the Dolly Wink liquid liner, which is also a pen style liner that goes on amazingly but dried up quickly. I was very frustrated at first but I realized that the liner is still usable as long as I don't use it everyday and rotate it when a couple other pen style liners. I also heard that if you store it horizontally, instead of vertically like usual, that should also help.

  7. I really liked this eyeliner, it actually converted me back to pen liners. I didn't have any problems with it drying out, but I did use it up quite quickly so maybe I just didn't notice!

  13. I didn't get on with this at all. For me it was just too try to use from the moment I got it and once it had been unpackaged I couldn't send it back. Such a shame as I was expecting such good things

  16. The same thing happened to me aswell, it really confused me. I thought I must of left the lid off without realising. So I'm glad its not just me that it happened to, I don't have to doubt myself anymore:) It really is a shame though. Its such a good eyeliner to start with. Well, at least I got it free in a magazine. I would have been very angry if I'd paid for it.

  17. I've had similar problems with the "pen" type applicators on some liquid liners. So upsetting when you like the eyeliner so much!!
Stil that color and precision is amazing!

  18. Aw, what a shame, that eyeliner sounded perfect! But no matter how good it is, if the product dries out so fast, it's not worth the money at all. There are other amazing liners out there that give wonderful results as well.
