Perk Up The Dull Winter Skin

Perk Up The Dull Winter Skin

ysl touche éclat and soap and glory glow all out

rimmel wake me up and benefit that gal

Hello loves! I don’t know about you but when the colder days roll in, my skin always gets a bit dull and lifeless. Even though I exfoliate and moisturize on a daily basis this just doesn’t feel quite enough. On some days, I like to reach for some of my trusty little helpers that always perk up my skin and add radiance and luminosity to it. Here are my top beauty picks on days when I need some extra boots and fancy healthier, glowing looking skin.

Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer

My favorite way to add some subtle glow to my face is to use a brightening primer. The one I adore at the moment is That Gal by Benefit. It has a lovely silky texture and goes on like charm. I love that it visibly brightens up my complexion and actually hydrates it a little bit, which I’ve never found in my other primers. It also smoothes the skin and evens out my skin tone. I love applying this primer under BB cream / foundation and it not only makes it stay on longer but it also adds beautiful glow and light to the face. Another thing I love doing with That Gal when I don’t wear it as a base, is dot a little bit of the product on the highest pints of my face just as a highlighter. It catches the light beautifully and looks stunning.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Branded as an anti-fatigue, awakening foundation, Rimmel Wake Me Up is the perfect foundation to use when I struggle with dry, dull skin. This little gem has very finely milled shimmer particles in it, which won’t make you look like a walking disco ball but will just add the right amount of dewiness to your face. Wake Me Up also feels really hydrating on the skin and doesn’t accentuate any dry patches that we may experience during the winter. As if this is not enough, this foundation has amazing medium-to-full coverage and it also looks really natural on the skin, almost like a second layer of skin. Winner!

YSL Touche Éclat

I am one all for highlighting pens! I love them and I think that they do wonders to the face. They could be used as under eye concealer to brighten up the face and make us look more awake, they can be used as really subtle highlight and to add immediate luminosity to our faces. No exception to the rule is the infamous YSL Touche Éclat pen, which I absolutely love. This beauty instantly gives life to the skin and eliminates any signs of dullness or fatigue. This pick me up magic wand is a necessity in my makeup bag and I think it’s the perfect asset to my winter makeup routine.

Soap & Glory Glow All Out

Kiss the lifeless skin a big fat goodbye with the help of my favorite luminizing face powder by Soap & Glory – GlowAll Out. This product has got us covered when we need to incorporate life, brightness and dewiness to our complexion. It could be used as highlighter or could be dusted all over the face and it will help you achieve beautiful healthy looking glow. It looks really subtle and natural so if you fear that it might be a little bit too much - fear not! Glow All Out perks up the skin when I mostly need it and it’s my little helper on days when I want to look fresh and radiant. I have a full on review with swatches on the powder and you can read more about it here.

So beauties, there you have it – my fault-free squad on days when the winter decides to take its toll on my skin and to suck out every last bit of life and moisture. I hope you enjoyed this post and I that it’s been somewhat helpful! :)

Have you tried any of these products before? Which are you favorite beauty pick to combat dull skin?

  5. I always used to swear by Touche Elcat for my undereyes, but I haven't splashed out on it for a few years. I think that needs to change very soon. I looked at the Rimmel foundation in boots and wondered if it was as good as it looked. Will defo be giving it a whirl now. I love soap and glory body products, but I'm yet to try and makeup items. Another thing I think needs to change very soon. I love anything benefit. Great article, thank you.

  14. I love spending less and getting the same look. ELF is such a great alternative too. They have a lot of illuminators for $3 and even $1! NYX also has some great alternatives and you can even get them for less. I posted recently about their buy one get one 50% off sale that you could also use an ultra coupon with to get an additional $3.50 off $10. LOVE Saving and getting the same products for less.
