MAC Rebel Lipstick Swatches

Hello cupcakes! I was wondering what post should I do next and as I was browsing through my makeup collection it hit me that I have never talked about my all time favorite lipstick. I have mentioned it a couple of times but have never done a proper review on it for some reason. And yes, I am talking about the infamous MAC lipstick in Rebel (£15.00 / $15)! I’ve repurchased this beauty a couple of times and I will always go back to it. I like to think of it as my ‘statement lipstick’ and I wear it all the time! <3

The reason I adore Rebel so much is because of its unique shade. I have never seen any lip product that gets any closer to this one and it’s just love. The first time I saw Rebel was at a MAC counter a few years ago and the makeup artist there highly suggested it for my skin tone (NW20), saying it would be perfect and would make my skin color pop. When I first saw the lipstick in the tube it looked rather scary but I went with it and let her apply it on me. And oh my days… it looked absolutely amazing and I was hooked straight away! Rebel is this gorgeous deep fuchsia berry color, which has very subtle and almost undetectable shimmer in it. I would say that the shade is mostly neutral but is leaning a bit more towards the cool side, which I personally love! My favorite thing about Rebel is that it is quite bold but not too dark or Goth at the same time. It definitely looks more vampy in the packaging but surprisingly it is pretty wearable and very feminine. I find that Rebel really does brighten up my complexion and I feel it is perfect for people with any skin type. One thing I’ve noticed though, is that the lipstick looks a bit different on the different skins, so have that in mind. Rebel is one of the most pigmented lipsticks that I own and you only need one swipe to get it fully opaque. However, if you’d like the coverage to be a bit more sheer you can just dab the lipstick gently onto your lips and you will get beautiful light pinkish hue, which is really stunning (especially with some clear gloss on top). <3

Rebel is part of MAC’s permanent line and it is a Satin. It has lovely semi-matte finish with lovely sheen to it, which is to die for! The lipstick applies easily and smoothly and it doesn’t bleed out so it is definitely faff-free to use. If you prefer you can always use a brush but I find it pretty easy to just swipe the products all over the lips and head out the door. Now, the only problem I have with Rebel is as it is Satin I find that it dries out my lips a bit. I have mentioned many times that I have naturally very very dry lips so it is to be expected. What I do to make it feel comfortable on though, is I just exfoliate my lips well and then put some nourishing lip balm underneath the lipstick and it feels better. It is not ideal, but I am sure if you have normal lips this won’t be at issue at all. The good thing about Rebel is that it luckily doesn’t accentuate dry patches, which is always a big concern with MAC lipsticks for me. As I said, this product has incredible pigmentation and it also wears for some good four hours on me, which having in mind I wear balm underneath is great! What I’ve noticed is that when the lipstick is gone it leaves nice pink berry stain. I know some people dislike that but I personally really love it as it kind of prolongs the wear time of the product a bit. :)

In a nutshell, I think it is safe to say that Rebel is an incredible lipstick that not only has lovely formula but its shade is so pretty and unique! It is without a doubt my all time favorite lipstick and I cannot imagine not having it in my collection; it is such a staple piece for me. Its beautiful deep berry shade is the perfect balance between edgy and feminine and I cannot recommend it enough! I wear Rebel all year round but I especially enjoy it during the fall and winter. It finishes off my natural eye makeup look so well and I always get tons of compliments when I wear it! <3 If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to Rebel, I’ve heard that the Rimmel New Moisture Renew lipstick in Glam Plum Fulham is pretty similar to it so have a look! :)

Have you tried Rebel before? What do you think of it? Which is your favorite deep berry / plum-y lipstick?

Lots of love,

How To / Halloween Nails With a Hint of Sparkle

Hello my lovelies, how are you? I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend so far? It was just yesterday that it hit me that it’s nearly the end of October, which means one thing – Halloween! I am a hugely festive person and I get excited over every single holiday but this year Halloween came waaaay too quickly and caught me unprepared. Better later than never though, so here is some little nail art project I came up with. As last year I created crazy spooky nails, I figured that this year I want to make something more fun and a little bit more girly. For this reason I incorporated some glitter into the simple pumpkin design. I really hope that you will like this tutorial and if you are late like me, hopefully this could be the perfect last-minute nail tutorial for you. :)

Halloween Nail Art Tutorial
As you can see this nail art is pretty easy to make and it literally took me no more that 20 minutes to do it. You can use any kind of colors you like but I opted for Essie Fiji as the base because it is neutral shade and the orange and green pop beautifully on top. :) Obviously, you can skip the glitter nail and do something spooky like spider or a ghost on its place, but I think that if you are going to a fancier party this design is great and not too over the top. I really hope you’ve enjoyed this post! Have an amazing Halloween everyone and make sure to tell me what are you going to be dressed like because I still have NO idea! I need to think quickly haha! <3

Random Facts About Me / Part 1

Random Facts About Me RosyChicc

Hello beauties! Hope you’re all doing well! <3 Today I figured that I’d do something different and share with you some random facts about me. I’ve been wanting to do this for ages as I feel it is a great way to get to know a blogger better. Initially, I wanted to do 25 or 50 facts but as I like to ramble lot I had to cut them to 15 otherwise the post would’ve been crazy long. I hope you’ll enjoy! :)

1. The feature I really want to change in my character (but sadly I can’t) is that I am the easiest forgiving person in the world and sometimes this blurs my judgment of people. You can insult me or seriously hurt my feelings and the second you come to me and apologize I instantly forget all the bad things you might have said or done to me and I am your best friend again haha. It’s happened many times and even when I was really heartbroken I managed to find the good in people and fully forgive and forget. I am definitely one to hold grudges, which makes my life much happier. One thing though, that I am not brilliant at doing is me going to people and trying to fix our relationship. It’s just that I am too scared that they may reject me, which I know would hurt me a lot.

2. I almost never eat chocolate. I don't have sweet tooth and chocolate is the last thing in my apartment I'd reach for if I crave some snack. The only version of chocolate I can eat and actually enjoy is dark chocolate with Sea Salt or Wasabi in it. Weird taste I have, some say hmmm… :) At times when my blood sugar is running low and I physically need to add something sweeter in my system I always reach for Chocolate with Strawberry Yoghurt, it's actually rather yummy.

3. Speaking of food, you should know that I am a huge foodie and my favorite thing in the whole wide world is sushi. I can eat it day and night, every single day for the rest of my life haha. It is not only super healthy but it also tastes like heaven to me. My favorite type has to be California Roll sushi with salmon and avocado. YUM! On the not-so-healthy side of things, I am dying for Five Guys burgers. I love burgers and since I tried it in London last month I haven’t stopped craving it, it’s just too good!

4. I love watching Airplane Crashes documentaries even though I am terrified of flying. Why do I do this to myself is beyond me…

5. The number 22 is haunting me… For real, and I am not even joking. It started two years ago and it is now everywhere - on clocks, car numbers  - everywhere, all the time. I must be seeing it at least a hundred times a day. I was joking about it at first but now it started to creep me out a bit.

6. When I was little I desperately wanted to become an FBI agent. All I was watching was criminal series and I was putting all my energy to solving the cases. My dad even made me an FBI badge and I was sooo happy and excited! I was constantly pretending to be agent Scully and my best friend was Mulder haha. One day though, my mum explained to me that there is a real possibility for me to die on a mission and that agent's lives are constantly at risk. I was so shocked and scared and this ended my career plans immediately. After this day I fully devoted myself to safer, more girly activities :)

7. I absolutely love traveling. Everything about it fascinates me so much (except the actual flight maybe)! Be it small road trips around the country with my boyfriend and friends or long-distance vacations - I love them all and they always make me so excited and happy. Some of my best memories I had made whilst travelling, plus I love exploring new places, getting to know different cultures and meeting new people! Two years ago I spent my entire summer with more than five hundred Chinese people and they really made me love their culture and so the next place I want to visit is certainly China. :)

8. I have very eclectic taste in music. I love many different styles starting from Lane Del Rey and Bastille, going through Taylor Swift and ending with my beloved Hip-Hop and Drum and Bass performers such as Deadly Hunta, Swollen Members and Pendulum.

9. My biggest dream is to swim with dolphins! You literally have no idea how badly I want it. I've had several opportunities to do it so far, however, as I have a very specific list of requirements on how, when and where this needs to happen, and I still haven't done it lol. So here I am, still waiting for the perfect occasion but when it finally does happen prepare for a heavy picture overload on Instagram haha.

10. Apart from flying, my biggest fear is of heights. It all started a couple of years ago when I was with my mum in Paris and we were on top of the Eifel Tower, enjoying the gorgeous view, when she said " Isn't it absolutely beautiful, just don't look down!" Needless to say, I immediately looked down (typical teenager *cough*) and I remember this paralyzing fear creeping into my heart. I couldn’t move or even blink and I felt so dizzy I almost passed out. Not fun at all and ever since then when I’m somewhere up high I freak out a bit. :)

 11. When I was 11th grade I was going through a very hard time in my life and I figured that I need a little change to hopefully make me feel better. So I went and pierced my belly button. This wasn’t feeling quite enough though, so I decided to dye my pretty blond hair – dark. Unfortunately, the lady at the salon had very different idea of what brunette is, so I ended up with this crazy orange (not even proper ginger) hair, which resembled the lovely Garfield. Brilliant!

12. Speaking of hair mistakes, when I was 8th or 9th grade I decided that straightening my hair with a regular straitening iron takes way too much time so I was using a regular iron. Yes, that’s right – the one we use for ironing our clothes. I don’t know what was I thinking, but in two moths time my hair was so damaged and brittle that I needed to chop a huge amount off to make it look decent again. Do NOT do this, I beg you!

13. I love my lazy days when I don’t need to wear any makeup and can just lounge around the house with my Pjs on. I love being out and about with friends but occasionally I feel like I need to take a day off and just be on my own, doing all thing I love, gathering my thoughts and just chill a bit. Some people find this quite strange but I love it because I feel so much better and recharged afterwards. Do you have days like this?

14. When I was at school I was taking dancing lessons for about two years. I did Modern Ballet and I loved every bit of it! I loved the music, the moves, the people – all of it! I wasn’t the best at it though but I didn’t care as I had so much fun. This is the only sports activity I have ever stick to and didn’t leave after a week. I am definitely not a sporty person.

15. I love Christmas a lot! It is my absolutely favorite holiday in the world and I go a bit crazy every year with my festivity. It might be too early for you, but I have to admit that my Christmas mood is already on. When 1st December hits the calendar though, I am out of control. My favorite Christmas songs are on repeat, I decorate the whole apartment, I bake cookies, buy presents; you name it! :) I think my deep love for Christmas has to do a lot with the fact that I get to spend the holiday with my family and loved ones, which I cherish so much. Also, I feel like everyone is a little bit happier, kinder and full of hope, which I love seeing in people. <3 Now, how many sleeps till Christmas do we have?

So there you go loves, some random bits and bobs from my personality! I really hope you enjoyed reading and I will be definitely doing Part 2 of this post at some point. Have a great day! <3

Lots of love,

Beauty Haul Part 1 / Complexion Goodies + First Impressions

Beauty Haul MUFE and Rimmel

Beauty Haul MUFE and Rimmel

rimmel wake me up foundation

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation and Full Cover Concealer

Hello cupcakes! I really hope you had a lovely weekend! I had two wonderful days involving massive amounts of homemade apple pie (I used this yummy recipe), hanging out with the girls and catching up on some of my favorite blogs. Now that I’m nicely refreshed I need to sit down and finish my essay that’s been tormenting me for the past two weeks. Exciting huh? On a brighter note though – I went shopping recently and picked up some lovely products that I wanted to share with you. I bought a few fall-appropriate bits, which I will talk about next week. As for today’s post, I wanted to show you some gems that I picked up in the hopes of achieving the perfect, flawless complexion. :) Hope you’ll enjoy!

MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Invisible Cover Foundation ($42)

Naturally, the first place I went to was Sephora. This time, however, I knew exactly what I was looking for and didn’t go much overboard. Yay! I will talk about this in-depth in an upcoming post but to make a long story short – I was in a desperate need of a new full-coverage foundation. It turned out that my beloved Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation (even saying its name makes me sick now) is breaking me out like crazy and by the time I realized it was because of it, my skin got SO bad I definitely needed some heavy-duty stuff. After two-day research I decided to go with the MUFE HD foundation, which is a full coverage foundation that is supposed to look ‘invisible’ on the skin. I am still trying it out so I can’t say anything final but so far I really do like it. It gives amazing coverage and covers most imperfections I have, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Now, I wouldn’t say it looks very ‘invisible’ on the skin and I’m still able to see that I’m wearing some foundation. It looks natural enough though so it’s fine by me. The HD foundation has a nice finish, which is somewhere between matte and dewy but I feel like it leans more toward the matte side. I am yet to decide if I like that look on me or not but if you are not crazy about the whole ‘dewy finish’ thing I am sure you’ll love this. I got the shade N115, which is a perfect match for me (I am MAC NW 20 for reference). A little warning though – if you have dry skin do not get this foundation, it would probably look awful on you. This stuff accentuates dry patches like crazy and thank God I don’t have many, otherwise it would’ve been absolutely impossible to use! I will do a proper review of the MUFE HD foundation as soon as I form a final opinion about it, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re interested. :)

MAKE UP FOR EVER Full Cover Concealer ($32)

One more thing I was interested in buying at Sephora was the MUFE Full CoverConcealer. As I mentioned, my skin was in terrible condition and I wasn’t sure if the HD foundation would be enough to cover everything that was going on on my face. After a long consideration of whether this product is worth the ridiculously high price tag, I figured that if it would help me feel a bit more confident then I should get it. And let me tell you – it was the best decision I’ve made beauty wise. This gem covers absolutely everything! And when I say everything, I mean everything! Any breakouts, scars or redness are long gone with this concealer and I am overly impressed! It doesn’t look flaky, cakey or heavy in the slightest and it is also waterproof! I also wanted to see how the product would perform as an under eye concealer and it does a great job at covering, but I feel like it is a bit dry for my skin so I’ll probably stick to wearing it over imperfections. You only need the tiniest amount of product and I think this tube will last me absolute ages, so it’s worth every penny! I got shade number 3 and it matches the MUFE foundation rather well. The combination of the two MUFE goodies gives me a beautiful flawless base and I am so pleased about that. <3

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (£8.99)

I am probably the last beauty blogger alive who tried the Rimmel Wake Me UpFoundation. I cannot believe I hadn’t considered buying it until now because I love trying out different foundations, especially drugstore ones. What drew my attention to this babe though was actually me best friend who said it’s the best foundation she has ever tried. Her skin always looks flawless, so I figured I need to finally give it a whirl. The Wake Me Up Foundation is branded as  ‘anti-fatigue’, awakening foundation that gives beautiful healthy glow to the skin while covering any blemishes and imperfections. It is safe to say that it does exactly this to my skin and it looks absolutely lovely on. The foundation has some very finely milled shimmer particles in it, which definitely don’t make me look like a disco ball and just add nice luminosity and dewiness to my face. I suppose that if you have oily skin you’ll hate that but it is perfectly okay for my normal to dry skin. What I adore about Wake Me Up is that if feels really moisturizing on the skin and doesn’t accentuate dry patches, which at the moment is my biggest concern. Also, I was so surprised to discover that this foundation actually looks like second layer of skin; it is really natural and almost undetectable. I would say that this product has medium coverage but it could be build up or down, which is always great. I like to apply Wake Me Up with my Real Techniques Stippling brush and it gives a flawless, airbrushed finish. I got the shade Ivory, which is a nice match for my skin so if you are NW20 in MAC this is your best bet shade wise. :)

Overall, I am really happy with all three purchases. For me, having flawless base is the most important thing in my makeup routine and I am happy to say that these gems really do make this happen for me. So far I really love them all and I will be reviewing and swatching them some time next month so be sure to check back if you’re interested. I really hope you enjoyed this ‘first impressions’ + haul post! Have a fantastic week loves! <3

Have you tried any of these products before? How do you like them? Which is your all time favorite foundation?

Lots of love,
