Summer is officially here, which calls for
one thing and one thing only – hours spent at the beach or by the pool, soaking
up all the sun possible. My mission for Summer 2014? Check a lot of books off of
my ‘to read’ list and I’m planning on doing this whilst dipping my feet in the
pool and sipping on non-alcoholic Mojitos. Let’s do this, shall we! To help me stay both refreshed and protected
from the sun, here I have my beauty essentials that never leave my beach bag.
Grab a delicious cool beverage and enjoy reading!
As much as I’d like to rock the perfect ‘bronzed
goddess’ type of tan, I still prefer to protect my skin and lips from the
dangerous UV rays. To help me with that I have gathered my UV-battling trio.
Starting of with my face, I alternate between La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL (here) and the Bioderma Photoderm AR Tinted
Cream (here). They both have SPF
50+, which is ideal but since I could never say ‘No’ to a bit of coverage and
anti-redness claims, here I opted for Bioderma’s offering. It protects
beautifully, doesn’t leave a white cast, feels super lightweight and leaves my
skin feel soft and hydrated. In the bag it goes then. For my body, the NIVEA Protect and Refresh Invisible Cooling
Mist with SPF 50 (here) is my protection
of choice. It protects, feels super refreshing, applies quick and easy (not a
big fan of SPF lotions) and doesn’t have strong sunscreen scent. A winner in my books. I’ve learned my
lesson when it comes to protecting your lips. Sunburned pout ain’t cute and
hurts badly, so Dior Crème de Rose lip balm (here)
is always with me when I’m sunbathing. It has SPF of 10, which might not be
much but still does the job perfectly, plus it keeps my lips moisturized and
juicy, which I love. The incredible rose scent makes everything that much more
appealing, so yes – definitely a beach / pool beauty necessity.
For my hair there is two items that I never
leave the house without when I’m headed to the beach. A hair brush and a hair
tie. The wind and the salty water could make me look rather hilarious and the
only way to tame down the crazy mess looking hair is to have my trusty Tangle
Teezer (here) at the ready. I’ve talked about it quite a bit here if you fancy a peek, but to put
keep it short and sweet let’s just say that it is a complete hair savior. It takes
care both for when my hair is dry and wet. It just slips through my hair and
removes all the tangles in one go without pulling my strands. It’s my beach /
pool best friend and I’d turn heads if I didn’t have it with me. And not in a
good way haha. For similar reasons I always like to have a hair tie with
me. If things go a bit too wild on the hair front or in case I feel too hot, I
just put my hair up in a pony tail and feel human again. I love these fabric
ones from H&M as they don’t create crease in the hair and are also a lot
more gentle. Plus the hot pink color feels so happy and summery doesn’t it!

Refreshing beverages are a must when I’m
sunbathing but sometimes I need some extra help if I feel too warm. I like to
give my face a nice spritz of The Body
Shop Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz (here)
when I want my skin to feel more fresh, energized and hydrated. This gem is the
ultimate pick-me-up for the summer and I adore the healthy glow it adds to my
complexion. A must-have for sure. For body refreshment and some added divine
scent I always have one of the Victoria’s
Secret Body Fragrance (here) on
hand. My current favorite is called Sensual
Blush and it basically smells like summer in a bottle. The delicious blend
of pink lotus and sultry woods is incredible and I love how fresh, young and sweet
it smells like. The VS mist is infused with Aloe Vera and makes the skin feel
soft and smooth. It’s love. Last but
not least, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’d know that I have to
have a hand sanitizer with me at all times. The Bath and Body Works PocketBac Sanitizing Hand Gel in Aloha Orchid
(here) is my latest obsession. It
makes my hands feel clean and refreshed, without feeling sticky. This germ
killer not only gets the job done wonderfully but also smells absolutely
beautiful, like paradise. It has a fantastic sweet, tropical scent and it is supposed
to smell like Hawaiian orchid and iced papaya. Yum.
Have you tried any of these
products before? Which are some of your beauty essentials for when you are
chilling by the pool or at the seaside?
The Bidoderma Photoderm sound so lovely, and spf 50 is a brilliant option! x
