Autumn Transition Makeup

Autumn is officially here but if you are not quite ready to dip your toe into the darker, vampy makeup yet, here is a list of my favorite transition summer-to-fall products. These gems will help you forget about the summer blues and will undoubtedly set the Autumn mood. After all, who doesn’t love sporting sheer berry or mauve-y pink lips, fuller coverage foundation, bronze-y eyelids and maybe even complexion-warming four-shade blush!

Now that the warmer days are behind us, the L’Oreal True Match Foundation (here) has been making appearance more and more. I change the light BB creams with heavier base products and this foundation is on the top of my list. True Match is basically fuss-free makeup perfection that offers full coverage without feeling heavy or cakey. Now the colder weather is here all gals with both dry and oily/combination skin can enjoy it and its lovely dewy glow. It builds to full coverage but you can wear it sheer for more natural effect. The longevity is brilliant and stays on for hours without budging. It’s my go-to airbrushed skin achieving foundation when my skin is lackluster and needs a bit umph.

Benefit Hervana (here) gives light cool-toned veil of color that warms up my complexion and perks up the skin in one swipe of the brush. Hervana peps up all skin tones and looks so flattering and subtle. When you mix the beautiful harmony of colors together you get lovely lilac-t shade with gorgeous shimmer that highlights the cheeks in all the right places. The formula is buttery soft and blends effortlessly. Can I find a fault? Not really.

I always get most excited for the bold, berry Autumn lips and I go straight for the vampy companions but if you want to take it slower, the following lippies are the way to go. MAC Syrup (here) is a wearable and flattering muted mauve pink with beautiful glossy finish. It’s not overly pigmented, which makes it the perfect on-the go option and I love that you can just slap it on without mirror and a brush. Syrup is super creamy and moisturizing and lasts a good while on the lips. If you fancy going berry but not full-on just yet, the Sephora Lip & Cheek Pencil in Pleasant Plum is your best bet. It adds stunning sheer plumy pop of color, which livens up the complexion beautifully. This gem blends beautifully and dries to a nice supper glossy finish, making the lips super juicy and kissable. Oh, and if you’re feeling matchy mathcy, you could pop Pleasant Plum on your cheeks as well.

Cranberry eye shadows for Fall are my favorite but I’m taking it easy on the shadow front, so at the moment - bronze-y lids it is! Metallic shadows are really in this season and since I am all about the super snappy and easy smokey eye, the Maybelline Color Tattoo in On And On Bronze (here) is my product of choice. It has really creamy and easy to blend consistency and the bronze shade is the die for. You can build it up or down depending on the look you’re after but either way - it makes the eyes pop beautifully. This stuff does not budge, so if you’re out and about on a windy, rainy day – fear not.

My number one 'in between' nail polish shade is the beautiful Essie Parka Perfect. I recently did a review on it and you can have a read here but I am smitten. It has that ‘crisp weather’ vibe to it and I am all about the sophisticated dusty blue-ish gray. The luxurious subtle shimmer running through Parka Perfect are my favorite part and it makes the polish that much more exciting. I can gush about the formula all day and the fact that this baby goes with any outfit instantly makes it a winner.

Have you tried any of these products before? Which is your favorite transition Summer-to-Autumn makeup piece?

Lots of love,

  1. My favorite Summer-to-Autumn makeup piece is definitely my MAC lipstick in Shanghai Spice. Not only was it nice to wear as a go-to easy nude lip in the warmer months, but for Autumn, pairing it over a darker nude lip liner or even a slightly berry one is just perfect and gives the lipstick a whole different look perfect for the changing weather =)

  11. I had the Maybelline Colour Tattoo before but it was in Eternal Gold, a shade that I really couldn't work with. Heading out tomorrow to grab On and On Bronze, it just looks so gorgeous. I've heard it's great with blue eyes too. This is such a great selection of products, you've really inspired my Autumn make up xx

  14. Your photos are stunning! I want to be able to pick out a standout product from what you've reviewed but they all sound and look incredible! All the colours are so pretty!

I've been meaning to give L'oreal True Match a go for aaaaggeeess. I gave it a go in a drugstore and fell in love. The coverage is amazing and the price is reasonable! I'm going into an Australian summer though, do you think that it'd still be fine? xx
