The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream / Review

The Body Shop All In One BB Cream

The Body Shop All In One BB Cream

The Body Shop All In One BB Cream

Let’s put it that way – if you are a light coverage foundation lover I don’t think we will be going makeup shopping anytime soon. I just love my full coverage way too much and I am not willing to part with it. However, strange days are upon us and recently I’ve decided to brave into the more natural base products so I treated myself to a BB Cream. Not typical to say the least, but I figured – hey I want to have something to slap on on those rare good skin days and half an hour later The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream (here) was added to my shopping cart. Let’s discuss.

Being on a total rush when I was getting my mitts on the BB Cream I got the wrong shade (#idiot). I went for 02, instead of 01, which certainly wasn’t the best start of our friendship. And sadly, it never quite developed fully. It’s a bizarre product, let me tell ya. If you are not familiar with the concept of the All-In-One BB Cream, it is basically supposed to be a color-adapting cream that offers 24-hour hydration. It comes off white from the tube and the little pigment-filled capsules release color as you apply the product and adapt to your natural skin tone. So far so good – I find that the cream really does adapt and even though I got a darker shade it is still a pretty good match for my skin tone. I must say that all shades I’ve swatched do have a touch of orange undertones but I kinda like that as they warm up the complexion beautifully and the product still looks rather natural.

Now if I need to give credit to the BB Cream for something, it would be for the fact that it did manage to surprise me. Not in a good way, unfortunately. I expected sheer coverage but this product just adds a tint of color and goes on almost-translucent without evening out the skin tone or blurring any imperfections. It is definitely more of a tinted moisturizer, which was quite the let down. However, All-In-One adds the most stunning healthy glow to my skin, making it look super dewy and radiant, which I am really loving. To add more coverage I live to apply the BB Cream and then go over with some sort of mineral foundation and the results are gorgeous – luminous skin + decent coverage. Lovely. If you are into light coverage base products, All-In-One is a great option and it will be also perfect for those no-makeup-makeup days we all like to have sometimes.

As much as I love the glowy finish, the list of baffling points sadly continues. Personally, I wouldn’t put All-In-One in the BB cream category as it lacks all skincare benefits a BB cream should have. It doesn’t have SPF. Nuff said and as I said – it needs to be branded as tinted moisturizer. Apart from that, the formula of the cream is lovely. It feels really hydrating and the quite emollient texture glides on and blends evenly when applied with a brush or sponge. All-In-One feels really lightweight and its non-clogging aspect makes it a nice option as I haven’t experienced me any breakouts or skin irritation. Overall, I can’t quite give Body Shop BB Cream the stamp of approval. I rather enjoy the beautiful radiant finish it gives but the lack of coverage and SPF makes All-In-One a bit overpriced for what it actually has to offer.

Have you tried TBS All-In-One BB Cream? How do you like it?

Lots of love,

  2. As a BB Cream it's baffling that this doesn't have SPF. Like you, i am a huge lover of full coverage so typically stray away from the lighter options, although i like how it sounds used with a mineral foundation. I may pick it up during the warmer months for those no makeup, makeup days which occur much more often then! Brilliant post! x

  5. If you want a great, affordable BB cream that actually does have some coverage, albeit light, I would recommend any of the ones by Garnier!
