Monthly Roundup / October

Hello everyone and Happy Halloween! What are your plans for tonight, anything exciting? I actually need to storm out the door as we speak to go find a costume. Yes, I left it to the very last minute (typical) and now I have less then five hours to figure it all out. Thank God for the massive amount of last-minute costume ideas on YouTube! Anyway, can you believe it’s almost November now?! This is crazy! Where has the year gone, seriously? For once though, I am excited that the time seems to be flying by because this means that Christmas will be here very soon. Yes, the C word. It might be too early for you but I already started my Christmas shopping, put up my fair lights and I am loving it!! Before I get carried away with Christmas planning though, let’s focus of my favorite posts for the past four weeks. Here is a little roundup and I hope you enjoy in case you’ve missed a post or two.

Bourjous Volume 1 Seconde Mascara / Review

Bourjous Volume 1 Seconde Mascara

Bourjous Volume 1 Seconde Mascara

Bourjous Volume 1 Seconde Mascara After

Here is a bold statement for ya – I have found my perfect drugstore mascara. You should know that I am rather picky with my lash companions and I have a substantial amount of unused tubes sitting in my stash. I am rarely impressed and the list of requirements is a wordy one. Nothing compares to the excitement of finding a brilliant high street gem that ticks all the boxes, so when I discovered this Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde (here) I was besotted. The results are mind-blowing. Oh my...

Let’s put it this way – even if your lashes point down to the floor, this beauty will trick people into thinking that you have falsies on. Yes, it is that good. Volume 1 Seconde gives gorgeous long, voluminous and luscious lashes in literally seconds. I have never had bigger, blacker and more fluttery lashes and I adore the way the mascara defines each hair. It gives huge amounts of volume and also holds curl like there is no tomorrow. Since adding this miracle worker to my everyday makeup routine my beloved Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (here) is sitting on the bench, which has to tell you something. One coat of Volume 1 Seconde is enough if you are after more natural and subtle effect but since I favor the dramatic lash look I usually opt for two layers.

The somewhat weird looking wand and the ‘wraparound spherical bristles’ make the application process a breeze and they hug the lashes right from the root ensuring beautiful separation and the wide-eye look we all adore. The Volume 1 Seconde lives up to the claims of no clumps and there is no smudging involves as well. No panda-eyed look at the end of the day then. Brilliant. This baby doesn’t budge and stays put until you say so and it removes with a cotton pad or two of my beloved Bioderma with no dragging and rubbing. Can I think for something negative? Not really! It is tried, tested and well-loved, so if you’re on a hunt for a new mascara that won’t break the bank – look this way.

Have you tried the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde mascara? Do you love it as much as I do?

Purple Lips / Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless Swatches

It’s no secret that I love a good dark bold lip. The burgundy, the plumy, the berry – I don’t discriminate and love them all. As of recently, I added a new shade to my ‘vampy lippy’ list and I really cannot get enough of it. Purple. Yes, as weird as it may seem to some (my mum and the boy included), I’ve actually fallen head over heels in love with gracing my lips with the shade. It’s bold, it’s different and could look rather classy if paired with the right cheek and eye makeup. The star of my purple lipstick collection is undoubtedly the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless (here). It boosts my confidence massively and adding it to my most-cherished lippies was a no-brainer.

Shameless is one of those shades that you just slap on and either instantly fall in love with or you just take off immediately and never even go close to ever again. It looks scary, and it probably is, but for someone like me who adores to experiment with lip colors it is honestly perfect. Shameless must be the most unique lippy in my collection and I love everything about its medium purple shade and the beautiful fuchsia undertones. It is a hybrid between vampy and feminine and I love how edgy, yet sophisticated it makes me look. And how does it make me feel? Empowered. That’s a nice word. Also, the stunning satin-y matte finish tickles my fancy and I love the way it tints the lips after the first layer has rubbed off. Gorgeous!!

Shameless has a lovely velvety texture and I love how lightweight it feels on the lips. It’s matte but creamy to apply and even though I know it might be a deal breaker for some of you – I am actually in love with the peppermint scent. You need two thin layers to get the color fully opaque and once it’s settles it hangs around for ages. I even managed to chomp my way through a burger once and it did not move. Brilliant. Everything sounding rather fab so far but there are a few bugbears I need to mention. I find that Shameless tends to cling into dry patches and fine lines, so make sure you give your lips a good scrub and prep them with a balm. Also, after about the second hour mark it starts to dry out the lips slightly, which is to be expected from a matte lipstick and it’s honestly not that bad, so fear not! So my final verdict? If you fancy dipping your toe into the purple lipstick pool, look no further and go get involved with Shameless – it is awesome and will turn heads, that’s for sure!

Have you tried Shameless? Would you wear a purple lipstick or is it too bold of a color for you?

Kylie Jenner 90s Nude Lip Combo

RosyChicc Kylie Jenner 90s Nude Lip Combo

Kylie Jenner 90s Nude Lip Combo MAC Syrup and Essence Lip Liner in Soft Berry

Kylie Jenner 90s Nude Lip Combo MAC Syrup and Essence Lip Liner in Soft Berry

I change my mind. That is the moral of the story in this post. If you were to tell me two months ago that one of my go-to lip combos would be nude-y brown I would’ve probably told you that you are out of your mind. But that’s what blogging does to me – helps me go out of my comfort zone and fall in love with trends that I use to find not particularly flattering. As of recently, I am all over the 90s nude lip trend and I sport in on a regular basis. I adore the deeper nude / brown tones and I love how subtle, yet sophisticated this look is. I’m especially loving it on days when I fancy channeling my inner Kylie Jenner and I find that wearing this combo is a fantastic way to spruce up the good ol’ pink-y nude lip.

The tawny lipstick obsession started not too long ago when I decided to be experimental for once and have a little play around with lip liners. I certainly wasn’t a lip pencil kinda gal but as I said – I am a mind-changer and now I completely get why they are in every makeup artist’s bag of tricks. They really do make a world of difference. They prolong the longevity of your lipstick, define the lips, and prevent your lipstick from bleeding and that awkward color fading. They just rock and my lip liner companion towards achieving the perfect 90s nude lip comes from Essence and it’s in the form of the shade 05 Soft Berry (here). This little gem has risen well above and beyond my expectations and I am head over heels in love with it. Its deep brown-y shade with slight berry undertones is right up my alley and it preps the lips beautifully for any brown / mauve lippy. It’s cheap as chips but the formula is awesome! Soft, non-drying and long lasting? Check.

I’ve tried to get the 90s vibe with multiple lipsticks but the Essence lip liner paired with MAC Syrup (here) is my winning combo. The lippy has stunning mauve purple-y pink shade, which tones down the shade of the pencil slightly and makes everything a bit more cool toned, which you know I adore. Plus, it makes everything even more perfect for autumn. I’ve banged on about it here but if I have to sum it up, I’d only say that Syrup is my favorite autumnal MAC lipstick. The shade is to die for and I love the satin finish and the creamy, hydrating formula. It is not overly pigmented as well, which makes it a breeze to apply if you’re on the go, especially over the Essence lip liner. And viola – with Syrup on top and Soft Berry underneath your 90s lip a-la miss K Jenner is complete!

Are you into the whole 90s nude lip trend? Which are your favorite nude brown lip products?

The Lazy Cleanse

Evening Cleansers - Bioderma Sensibio H2O and NUDE Perfect Cleansing Oil

With the Halloween season right around the corner, coming back home in the small hours with faces caked with makeup is inevitable. So is skipping the pre-bed cleanse. Trust me, I’ve been there – there is nothing more painful then forcing yourself to the bathroom for a 5 step evening skincare routine when all you want to do is drift off. Oh, the horror! However, as hard as it might seem we need to stop making excuses and postpone our pillow reunion a little by getting involved with what I like to call ‘late night lazy cleanse’. It consists of just two products that will remove your makeup without all the faff and will spare you the trauma of waking up to a horrendous makeup mess that’s clogging your pores.

My favorite partner in crime when I couldn’t be bothered to have a 10-minute massage & cleanse session with the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm (here) is the NUDE Perfect Cleansing Oil (here). This is the best lazy day makeup remover / cleanser I have found and I absolute love what it does to my skin. It is one of those ‘miracle in a bottle’ products that instantly melt away every bit of your foundation and mascara, leaving your skin thoroughly cleansed. It takes me exactly two minutes to remove my makeup with the silky oil and if I am feeling it I like to use a hot cloth to wipe it away, which helps polish the skin. The NUDE Cleansing Oil is brilliant at removing makeup and decongesting the skin and I love how glowy and healthy my complexion looks after. Brilliant stuff. And easy to use too.

You could leave it there if you want to but I personally don’t ever feel like my skin is ready for bed until I run a cotton pad soaked with Bioderma Sensibio H2O (here) all over my face and neck. It doubles both as a second cleanser and as toner and it’s a total winner. It’s fast and super easy to use and it’s great for getting rid of any makeup / dirt residue you might be having. It feels nice and cooling on the skin and I love how gentle it is. It’s not oily, as it is a water-based product and I love how it tones my skin in seconds. It is a million times better then using makeup wipes and it agrees beautifully with my skin. Slap on a pump or two of your favorite moisturiser after and you are ready to hit lala land.

Have you tried any of these products? Which is your ‘late night lazy cleanse’ routine?

The Glow Getters Lineup

Glowing skin products - Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, Loreal Lumi Magique Primer, Soap&Glory Glow All Out

Glowing complexion products - Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and Loreal Limi Magique Primer

Soap&Glory Glow All Out Powder

First of all I feel like I should start this post by saying a huge thank you to all of you who are following and supporting my lil’ blog. As you may have noticed RosyChicc hit 6000 Bloglovin Followers the other day and I cannot express how happy and content this makes me feel! Big virtual hugs to all of you eek! Secondly, if you follow me on Twitter you probably know that I’ve been having major issues with my memory card, so until it’s being fixed I decided to share a post I originally wrote for the lovely Sandra from The Black Pearl Blog (here). She kindly let me guest post over on her wonderful blog and I figured I’d share it on mine as well in case you’ve missed it. Hope you enjoy and don’t forget to check out Sandra’s blog – it’s one of my personal faves!

With the colder months slowly but surely creeping up to us, I need to amp up my skincare game and whip out my trusty makeup glow-getters, which will kiss the dull-looking skin a big fat goodbye. Meet my favorite beauty bits that never fail to perk up my complexion and add life and youthful radiance to it.

I find that the quickest and easiest way to combat the lackluster complexion and oomph things up is using the oh-so-amazing Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (here). Two pumps of this godsend miracle product is all I need to make my skin look well rested and flawless. The foundation offers medium to full coverage that not only hides all imperfections but also makes all signs of dullness and fatigue nowhere to be seen. The teeny tiny shimmery particles in the foundation (sounds scary but fear not – they are very subtle) add to the whole dewy and healthy skin look that we all know and adore. Wake Me Up blends beautiful into the skin and the skinlike finish definitely tickles my fancy. It hangs around for hours and hours and it is cheap and cheerful. A winner in my books.

If you are not fan of the all-over dewy complexion, then this L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer (here) may float your boat. This is basically like summer glow in a tube and it’s my not-so-secret weapon to injecting faux radiance into my skin. This two in one skin enhancing liquid highlight could be used both over and under foundation on the highest points of the face for an instant boost. I always come back to this gem when my complexion is looking a bit ‘meh’ and I especially enjoy how it beefs up my base prior to foundation. Lumi Magique is also perfect for all of you dry skinned gals as it moisturizes the skin a bit as well. Radiant, healthy and happy looking skin even in the coldest day of the year? Check! Review here.

Say hello to the best illuminating powder companion – the incredible Soap&Glory Glow All Out (here). Gawd where do I even start – I bloomin’ love this stuff. This multipurpose beauty has me covered when I need to brighten up my skin and just make it that much extra lively. The über finely milled powder gives me youthful-looking complexion with just one gentle swipe of the brush for skin that looks ‘lit from within’. Glow All Out could be dusted all over the face or you can use it as highlight and just pop it on top of your cheekbones for some lift. Either way – the natural peachy pink shade that peps up all skin tones will make you look healthy, radiant and dewy. It is a complexion cheerleader, I tell ya! Review and swatches here.

Cheeks, Lips and Tips / Autumn Edition

Autumn Berry Makeup

Too Faced Full Bloom Lip & Cheek Creme Color in Sweet Pea

Autumn Berry Lipstick Rimmel Moisture Renew in Sloane's Plum and Essie Nail polish in bahama mama

By the amount of autumn related posts I’ve uploaded recently, I’m pretty sure you all know by now how excited I get about fall makeup. I’d even go as far to say that autumn is my favorite time of the year to play around with beauty. I mean, you can’t really say no to the deeper berry hues, am I right?! One of my favorite things to do when the colder weather rolls in is to play it matchy-matchy and combine my most-loved plumy / berry products all in one very fall-like look. Here is the trio that I love slapping on and which never goes out of style. This is my cheeks, lips and nails all sorted then.

Cream blushes and I don’t necessarily always bond, as they could be quite the fuss to apply but I am happy to report that I have found my Holy Grail autumn cheek companion. Meet the beautiful Too Faced Full Bloom Lip & Cheek Crème Color in Sweet Pea (here). Its gorgeous medium-toned berry shade has everything I want in a fall blush, and more. It is more muted then your regular pink blush and its lovely berry hues add to the whole seasonal feel, while still manages to brighten up the complexion beautifully. Sweet Pea looks really natural on and its creamy formula keeps my skin looking dewy and radiant. The formula of the Too Faced Crème Colors really floats my boat and I love how creamy and easy-to-apply the product is. It goes on smoothly and you need the tiniest amount for the perfect flush of color – the pigmentation is a real deal. If you fancy seeing how the blush looks on click here.

You know how this one goes, right? It’s no secret that I love a good ol’ bold, vamp-y lip and my favorite partner in crime comes from Rimmel with their stunning Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sloane’s Plum (here) In a nutshell – this baby rocks. From the gorgeous deep wine-red / plum shade to the super moisturizing, buttery soft formula – Sloane’s Plum is a perfection in a tube. When I am feeling bolder but still fancy looking classy – this is my first option. The uber rich color is the perfect finishing touch to any autumn makeup look and I am just obsessed. It compliments the Too Faced blush beautifully and the formula is spot on without a doubt. Oh, and the glossy finish is my favorite part – it is to die for. Full review and swatches here.

No autumn look is complete without a fab burgundy nail polish shade and since I love treating my tips to an Essie, Bahama Mama (here) is my polish of choice. Its suit-everyone deep burgundy-plum color that changes slightly color depending on the lightning leaves me smitten every time I paint my nails. I love how sophisticated Bahama Mama looks and it is the perfect fall / winter pairing. I am not overly impressed by the runny formula but I love the color way too much to send this beaut on the bench. See Bahama Mama in all its glory here.

H&M Cosmetics Make Me Blush Palette / Review

H&M Cosmetics Make Me Blush Palette

H&M Cosmetics Make Me Blush Palette

H&M Cosmetics Make Me Blush Palette

H&M Cosmetics Make Me Blush Palette Swatches

After falling head over heels in love with the Topshop Cosmetic range a few years ago, I came to the realisation that clothing brands could actually produce great quality makeup. Having said that, last week when I was browsing through the H&M store I spotted their cosmetic range and decided to give some bits a whirl and see if they measure up to the higher end beauty lines. The first item that caught my eye was this beautiful H&M Cosmetics Make Me Blush Palette (£2,99). There were two blush palettes available and I went for the pink one cuz you know me – I have a soft spot for pink cheeks. For some weird reason though, I couldn’t find the name of the palette anywhere on packaging but it’s the pink one and the other one leans more on the peachy side. Honestly, I am really surprised at how little-to-no information there is about the H&M blush palettes because they are actually really lovely. The shades are beautiful, the formula is great and they are cheap and cheerful – definitely worth a try.

The Make Me Blush Palette comes with three stunning shades – Pink, Bright Pink and Plum. They are housed in a not-so-classy looking packaging, which definitely does not float my boat but it gets the job done and it’s great for travelling. Pink must be my favorite shade of the bunch because as you know I am a sucker for lighter, cool toned pink blushes. This one compliments my skin tone beautifully and instantly brightens up my complexion. It’s a great all year-rounder and perfect for daytime wear when you need some skin boost. Bright Pink looks rather scary in the pan with its vibrant coral-y pink shade but on the cheeks it looks more natural and adds the perfect veil of tint to the skin. Just be careful and apply it with light hand and you’ll be good to go. Bright Pink would be the perfect spring/summer blush and I can’t wait for it to grace my cheeks when the warmer months roll in – I love how it perks up the skin. The last shade of the trio is Plum and let me just tell you that it’s a colder weather must-have. It’s gorgeous Plum-y shade is super unique and looks so sophisticated and natural on, while warming up the complexion wonderfully. It has that wintery vibe to it and I’d hazard a guess that it will be very well loved now that autumn is here.

All blushes have beautiful satiny sheen to them, which I absolutely adore and they make my skin look healthier and more polished. The formula of the trio varies slightly in the pigmentation front but they are all still super pigmented and you need the tiniest dab of the brush to get full-blown, even color. The blushes have lovely silky soft texture, which feels almost creamy and they all glide on like charm. *Pleasantly surprised!* Also, these beauties don’t cling to dry patches, nor do they look cakey, which I find rare for high street blushes. The longevity is not the strongest feature of the palette and the blushes start to fade around the fourth hour mark but that’s to be expected considering the ridiculously low price tag.  So my final verdict? For what it is the H&M Cosmetics Make Me Blush Palette rocks. Definitely go get your mitts on it – I’m sure you’ll love it and for the price you don’t really have anything to loose, am I right!

Have you tried this blush palette yet? Have you tried anything from the H&M Cosmetics range? Which is your favorite product?

The Autumn Eye Makeup Change Up

Autumn Eye Makeup Essentials

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate

Benefit They're Real Puck-up Liner

For the A/W season the attention is on the eyes and my preferred look definitely involves loads of drama and a touch of color. Cranberry eyelids, thick eyeliner and big, voluminous lashes. Yes, that’s pretty much my fall eye makeup sorted and I can’t wait to start sporting the look more frequently. I will forever be a bold lipstick wearer but on days when I fancy going nude on the lip front, the following trio will be keeping my eyes a great company.

Cranberry / burgundy eye shadows have always been my shade of choice when it comes to autumnal makeup and this Maybelline Color Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate (here) just rocks. I adore everything about its stunning metallic burgundy shade that makes my green eyes pop and the golden light-reflecting shimmer is such a lovely touch. If you’re not feeling comfortable wearing red-based shadows, fear not as you can apply Metallic Pomegranate more sheerly for a more muted, brown-y shade. I tend to wear this beauty on its own for a swiftly added seasonal touch of color but you could also pop some MAC Cranberry (here) eye shadow on top to intensify the colors. The formula of Metallic Pomegranate is downright incredible. It is creamy, pigmented, extremely long-lasting and completely crease-proof. Love it.

Even since the Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner* (here) hit my doorstep I’ve been trying to nail the perfect winged eyeliner with it. The concept behind the twist-up gel liner pen is simply brilliant, as I do love a dash of good gel eyeliner, especially during the colder month. However, I do find this one a bit hard to use when it comes to creating a thin line – precision is not my greatest feature haha. Luckily, it’s all about the dramatic eye makeup here, so I’ve been getting a lot of use out of this gem. It creates the perfect thicker, more graphic a la Dita Von Teese winged eyeliner, which dries matte, doesn’t budge for hours and is a beautiful jet black color. Gorgeous.

Now that the summer is behind us it’s time for the natural looking lashes to step aside and make room for my beloved doll-eyelash look. I love the look of the long, black fluttery lashes as they enhance the look and make the eyes appear bigger and brighter. My favorite partner in crime when it comes to dramatic eyelashes is the YSL Shocking Mascara (here). It definitely has ‘bold’ written all over it as it does separate beautifully, adds tons of length and volume and holds curl for the day while making the hairs look super rich in color. The formula of this baby is incredible as well and it doesn’t clump or smudge and there is no smearing in sight. It’s the perfect more dramatic option and if you’re looking for mascara that will magnify your lashes, look this way.

Have you tried any of these products before? Which one is your favorite?

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Plum Luck

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Plum Luck

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Plum Luck

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Plum Luck

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Plum Luck Swatches

I remember back in the day, before I became an Essie nail polish crazy lady, that I really enjoyed the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure range. Their varnishes were front row in my nail polish stand, so recently I decided to give some new shades a whirl and rekindle my love for the line. The shade that instantly captured my heart was Plum Luck (here). In the bottle it is a stunning deep plum-y color, which is unlike anything I have in my collection. Plum Luck is one of those shades that appear darker on the nails and change their color depending on the lighting. You guessed it – this beauty looks much darker, almost black, in low light and shows its true berry / plum-y undertones in brighter light. It does feel very autumnal and sophisticated both ways and it suits all skin tones beautifully. If you are a ‘vampy purple’ kind a gal – Plum Luck is a must-have.

Sadly, Plum Luck was a bit of a let down in the formula department. Don’t get me wrong – it still has decent formula but I just had way too high expectations because of my previous experience with the Complete Salon Manicure range. Plum Luck leans more toward the watery side of thing, which is not my preferred consistency. It does go a bit streaky and it’s bald patches-heavy, so you need about three thin layers to get the color fully opaque and even. The polish dries quickly, so it’s not too much of a hustle but the shade gets darker and darker with every layer, which is why I’m not too keen. I do want to be able to see the gorgeous plum hues. Plum Luck hangs around for about 2-3 days without chipping, which is not ideal, so I’d put some topcoat on if I were you. Apart from that, I have to say that I adore the user-friendly, nail-hugging brush – it makes the application process that much easier and enjoyable. Oh, and I have to mention the stunning high-shine finish of Plum Luck - it’s super pretty!

Have you tried Plum Luck before? Do you like it?

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer / Review

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer

I am all about the luminous, healthy-looking skin during the autumn season and my favorite way to achieving it is by injecting some faux-glow with my trusty L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer (here). This two-in-one skin enhancer could be used both as primer and as highlight, but either way you just need one pump to create stunning ‘lit from within’ effect. This gem has beautiful pearly white shade and it’s definitely not shimmer or glitter-heavy, which I adore. It subtly perks up the skin and the dewy finish is quite natural, so you won’t end up looking like a walking disco ball. I absolutely love using this miracle worker when my skin is lacking its usual glow as it makes my complexion radiant and brighter.

The first way to use Lumi Magique is as primer. Apply some on well-moisturized skin, blend with fingers or a brush (I suggest the latter) and transform any foundation, creating stunning youthful satin finish. Now, it doesn’t prolong the foundation wear but it does beef up the skin prior its application. It’s perfect for all gals with dry skin as well since it not only adds glow and life to your complexion but also moisturizes a bit, which is always nice to have. If you are not a fan of the overall glow, you can use Lumi Magique as liquid highlight. Pop some on top of the highest points of your face for an instant boost and lift – the pearly sheen is to die for. I adore the thin consistency of this product and I love how it just glides on and blends seamlessly. A little goes a long way and you need the tiniest bit to battle the tired, dull skin. The primer definitely has earned a HG status and it will be gracing me face more and more now the colder days are upon us. It is seriously brilliant.

Have you tried the L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer before? Do you like it?
