The Luxury Christmas Gift Guide

Christmas Gift Guide

Loreal Steampod

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarine Candle

Daniel Wellington Classic Bristol Watch

Zoeva Rose Gold Luxury Brush Set

So Christmas is right around the corner, which means Christmas shopping! I’m typically not one to do Christmas Gift Guides because let’s face it – by the time I get round to doing them everyone and their dog has blogged about the best beauty kits and sets on the market. I always jump late on the bandwagon, I can’t help it. Having said that though, this year I really wanted to try and give some of you ideas on what to get your closest ladies. I decided to focus on some more expensive treats that I would personally love to find under my Christmas tree. We have fashion, makeup and hair care bits thrown in the mix, so let’s get started…

If you know someone that’s really into hair care then things seriously don’t get any better than the new Loreal Steampod* (here). This innovative lil’ tool takes hair styling to a whole new level. It uses steam to style the locks, which makes it 10x more gentle then our regular heat-styling tools. It minimizes the heat damage whilst making the hair look and feel super smooth and shiny and the long lasting results are incredible. Wanna hear a little secret? I actually way prefer it to my GHDs. Review is coming your way soon, but I’m sure that many ladies would love to unwrap this gem on Christmas Day.

If you have a candle lover in your life then you can’t go wrong with the Jo Malone candles (here). They are so luxurious, smell absolutely incredible and look so classy and sophisticated in every home. My fave scent is the Lime Basil & Mandarin (here / review) one, which is perfect for every season because of its fresh and clean scent. Every Jo Malone candle comes beautifully wrapped and it would be the perfect treat to find under the Christmas tree.

For the more fashion-oriented lady in your life I’d say go for a watch. It’s a piece that will always remind her of you and it’s really very special. I still remember the excitement of my best friend (find her blog here) last year when she opened her Daniel Wellington watch (here). They are my favorite as they come in so many different shapes and colors and the quality is fab. My recent favorite is this Classic Bristol* one in Rose Gold (here). It goes with almost any outfit and the leather wristband gives it such sophisticated feel. I love it and if you fancy treating someone special to a DW watch you can get 15% off with the code ‘rosychicc’. It’s valid until January 15th.

I personally love getting new perfumes as presents and I think it’s always great to get your loved ones a new scent. The Chloe Eau de Parfume (here) has been all I’ve been wearing for the past few months and it’s definitely one to check out. It’s super feminine and just screams ‘special’. Definitely go give it a little spritz and see for yourself.

Zoeva brushes. Do I need to say more? Swoon! They tick all the boxes what can I say. Makeup brushes are always a good idea as you can never have too many, am I right? The Zoeva Rose Gold Luxury Brush Set (here / review) would definitely be something I would loooove to unwrap on Christmas Day. The quality is absolutely incredible, the brushes make makeup application a child’s play and the bristles are so soft it’s not even funny. There are eight gorgeous brushes in total, housed in a lovely faux leather travel bag and I use every single one of them on a daily basis. The set it incredible value for money, so you can’t really go wrong.

There are tons of fab makeup sets out this year but if you don’t want to go for them then a high quality makeup piece is the way to go. I personally don’t know anyone who would say ‘no’ to a Chanel lippy for instance, so why not opt for one? They are true classics, just pick a finish and a shade and you’re set. And if you’re shopping for a nail polish fanatic, then a luxurious high-end nail polish is always a good idea. Formula wise, my faves are YSL and Estee Lauder as they apply like a dream, stay put for ages and have beautiful high-gloss finish. They shades are to die for as well, so go have a look.

What are you getting your loved-ones this Christmas?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Blogmas Day 2 // Office To Party Beauty Picks

Office to party makeup

The Christmas Party season is officially open, which means it’s time for a quick and easy makeup transformation. Most probably in the ladies bathroom. Classy times, I know. It’s not the most desirable of places but sometimes it has to be done when your dressing table is not an option. I’ve got you covered though, so fear not! All you need is a handful of easy-to-slap on products, which will get your everyday office makeup from bare-there to oh-so-glamorous and party-ready. The list of products goes as follows…

Even though I always like to go for budge-proof base makeup when I’m going out, things may still need a bit of freshening up. I like to start by topping my foundation with my trusty Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation (here / review). It adds a bit of coverage, as well as injects some moisture back into my skin. It goes on beautifully and doesn’t disturb the makeup underneath – fab. If you don’t want to go down the foundation route though, you can always pop some concealer under your eyes and on any spots that may have be peeking through. The Soap & Glory Kick Ass (here / review) is perfect as it comes in two shades – one for the eye area and one for blemishes. Then simply dust some powder all over the face to take away any shine and to help set everything in place. Chanel Les Beiges (here / review) is always my powder of choice as it blends like a dream and adds a touch of coverage without looking caked on.

By the end of the working day chances are your blush and bronzer are nowhere to be seen, so reapplication is in order. Enhance those cheekbones and warm thing up with a touch of bronzing powder and you’re good to go. My favorite as of late is the Bare Minerals Ready Bronzer (here), which ticks all the boxes with its buttery, easy-to-blend formula. For some added color simply dust some blush on the apples of your cheeks. I love Benefit Rockateur (here / review) for nights out as it highlights the area beautifully and makes mu skin look dewy and fresh.

For eyes, you can’t go wrong with a speedy smokey eye and the Kiko Eyeshadow Stick in #6 Golden Brown (here / review) is the bomb. The bronze-y shade is absolutely gorgeous and the metallic finish is the perfect touch for any party. It’s completely foolproof to use and it stays on until you say so. If you want to add more drama into your makeup then you can’t go wrong with eyeliner. It’s a bit tricky to apply with mascara on, but it makes the biggest difference, so in my makeup bag it goes. I love the Loreal Super Liner Perfect Slim (here) as it’s offers great precision and the tip is perfect for creating both thin and thick wing.

When I think Christmas Party I instantly think red lip. It’s the ultimate seasonal must-have, isn’t it! Red lipstick tends to be a bit hard to apply on the go though and that’s why I opted for the Maybelline Color Drama Velvet Lip Pencil in Light It Up (review). The bright classic red share is to die for and compliments all skin tones beautifully. It is super easy and faff-free to apply and the best part is that it stays in tact for hours, regardless of the number of cocktails I’m having. Just make sure you steer clear of the mistletoe because this baby transfers. A lot.

No one has time for complex hairstyles post-work, so it’s all about getting texture. Just spritz some texturizing spray through your locks, give them a scrunch and voila – hello voluminous party-ready hair! I can’t live without my Charles Worthington Texturizing Spray (here / review), which never fail to deliver all the right amounts of oomph to my strands. Last but not least, spritz on your favorite perfume and you’re done! Mine pick is Chloe Eau de Parfum (here) – it’s just divine! Go give it  asniff ladies and add it to your Christmas wishlist!

Have you tried any of these products? Which is your number one Christmas party essential?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Blogmas Day 1 // November Favorites

Beauty Favorites, Blogmas
Benefit Hervana blush

Sleek Contouring Palette

Rimmel Kate 107

Barry M Gelly High Shine in Almond

Happiness Boutique Necklace

Happy December 1st everyone! Today I got up and the first thing I did was to play Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You – a tradition which started at uni and something I do every year without fail. It will be on repeat the whole day and let me tell you – my Christmas mood is officially ON. Before fully diving into the whole Christmas craze though let’s wrap November up and talk beauty favorites. I haven’t tried a bunch of stuff this past month but instead rediscovered my love for some forgotten babes. I sense that they will be making quite the appearance on the blog soon because they are all that good. Allow me to explain…

Step aside Mac Soar & Brave, I have a new fave lip combo! Ever since Halloween when I opted for a more vampy look all I’ve wanted to coat my lips with has been Essence Lip Liner in Soft Berry (here / review) and Rimmel Matte Kate in 107 (here / review). You can see me wearing the combo here and I love how bold yet sophisticated it looks. I like to outline my lips with Soft Berry and slightly bring it inwards, leaving the very center of the lips bare. Then I go over the uncovered part with 107 and we get the most beautiful ombre effect. Both shades compliment each other beautifully and it’s the perfect combo for this time of year. Christmas Party companion sorted.

I’ve been needing all the glow recently as my skin has been a bit dull and lackluster and the Benefit Girl Meets Pearl (here) has been making my cheeks rather happy. This golden pink cream highlighter is absolutely stunning and creates the most gorgeous natural finish. I like to pop it at the highest points of my face and I adore how beautifully it reflects the light, making me look dewy and radiant. A little goes a long way and I love that this is a glitter-free highlight. It just adds light and luminosity to the complexion without making you look like a walking disco ball. Love.

Benefit Hervana (here) is all I’ve been swirling on the apples of my cheeks and I am not complaining. This beauty gives me serious autumn-y vibes and I love how it perks and warms up my cheeks. The beautiful light veil of color Hervana gives is so flattering and gently it highlights my apples. The buttery, long-lasting formula is pure perfection as well and the blush blends like charm, which ensured it a front row in my makeup bag this season.

Another cheek companion comes from the Sleek Contour Kit in Light (here). Housed in a small compact are a bronzer and a pretty pinky champagne highlight. I find that the bronzer is perfect for both contouring and warming up the face as it’s neither too ashy nor too orange. It’s right in the middle and it’s a good’un’for us fair skinned gals. The highlight is quite the beauty as well and I also like to dust some in the inner corners of my eye – it opens up the look beautifully. Pop this to your wish list ladies, it’s incredible quality and form the drugstore as well.

Greige and I have been having a love affair all year round and the Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in Almond (here) has been my polish of choice in November. I mean look at it – the beautiful blend of beige and grey is so classy and chic and goes incredibly well with any outfit. Good neutral shades are a must in winter and this one ticks all the boxes. The chip-free gel-like formula is a hit as well and hangs around for days and days.

Statement necklaces are a seasonal must-have and this Happiness Boutique Be Beautiful Statement Necklace in Yellow* (here) is something I have fallen head over heels in love with recently. The quality is incredible and I like that is adds a little something something to any outfit without screaming ‘bling bling’. I have my Christmas party outfit sorted then – LBD, black studs and this lil’ beaut on. Winning combo.

Have you tried any of the products mentioned? Which beaut product have you been obsessing over recently?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Getting Personal // Where Have I Been

MAc Book

Well hello there! Long time no see… But oh my, how much I’ve missed just sitting there on my laptop with a nice cup of hot chocolate wine and pouring out my heart on a sheet of paper! It’s surely been a while and I feel like I owe you all a big apology! I really am terribly sorry that I’ve been so quiet on here and on all my social media channels over the past few months. But you know how this one goes – life happens and this time it just took the better of me. If you’re regular down these parts, I am sure you’ve all probably guessed that something was wrong. Having said that, thank you to all of you who took the time to e-mail me asking what was happening and where have I been. Your support means the world to me!

A lot of people seemed to think that I’ve quit blogging and I’m here to tell you that this is definitely not the case. I love my little blog with all my heart and I will not leave it for the world. RosyChicc has always been my happy place and I intend for it to stay that way. Sometimes though, things do get messy and a little bit sad and I feel like that’s just part of life. A part that not many people like to talk about of social media but I am a firm believer that we need to portray not only the good, but a little bit of the bad too. Life is not always a walk in the park and that’s okay. Sometimes we need to face the troubles in order to acknowledge all the good we actually have. A lot of times things will get ugly, it will hurt, but we need to learn from that and grow as people.

Over the past few months a lot of things changed for me. I won’t go into too much detail as there are third parties involved but let’s just say that I reached my lowest point in life. There are a ray of emotions and feeling floating in my head right now. There are things that I still don’t quite understand. What I do know is that I had the time to reflect back on a lot of things and there are some pretty valuable life lessons that I’ve learned recently. I will never be the same person again. I will never be the naïve girl who only sees the good in people. I will never be like that again. I learned it the hard way but hey – life goes on right? There are so many things yet to be learned and for the first time in my life I feel ready! Ready for the good and the bad. But for now I’ll just leave you with some things that I realized when I did my soul-searching recently. These are the things that I’ll always carry with me and I hope they help some of you too:

1. It’s okay to seek help. If you’ve been following my little blog for a while then you may know that I suffer from anxiety. I know, I know – a rather controversial topic in the blogging community but you know what? I don’t really care. Even though a lot of people might say that I am ‘yet another blogger suffering from anxiety and panic attacks looking for attention’, I actually believe that this is a topic I must address as it’s something that’s been controlling my life for years now. The reason why I am mentioning it is because I finally sought help. After years of refusing to get professional help, a few months ago I finally got the courage and called a therapist. It wasn’t easy at first but let me just tell you – it’s the best decision I’ve ever made and I feel proud of myself. For calling, for finding the inner strength to actually go and stick with it. I’ve already stared feeling better and I am looking forward to my next session. My point is – don’t be afraid to seek help. There is nothing to be ashamed or worried about, I promise. And it really does help, so if you’re struggling with something mental health related – just pick up the phone and book an appointment. It’s liberating.

2. We are our worst enemy. We all have a vast array of demons in our minds and that’s okay. What’s not okay though is letting them ruining or controlling your life. If there is something your don’t like about yourself – bloomin’ change it. It might take a while but that’s not important. Make that flaw your number one priority and work every singe day towards removing it from your life. Acknowledging the fact that we are not perfect is the first step to growing as people and the change must start from within. Also, don’t criticize others, they are in the same boat as you and have things to improve. We all do, just don’t let your weaknesses defeat you.

3. The truth will set you free. Honestly really is the best policy and always saying the truth is the way forward. I’ve happened to fully comprehend that the hard way but hey! I am kind of glad that things went down that road because I’ve leaned a lot of things about myself and learned that saying the truth is always my best bet. Unfortunately, things did get ugly at some point and the only right thing to do was for me to come clean and let it all out. It was the most liberating feeling and words cannot describe how happy and proud of myself I am that I got the courage to say the truth. It made me realize that being honest with people, as well as with yourself, is what we should always strive to do. We owe that to the people we love and to ourselves as well.

4. Forgiveness is the best gift you can give to someone. Again, I learned that the hard way but it is actually so true. If someone has hurt your feelings and they are truly sorry – give them a second chance. We all make mistakes; it’s in our nature. No one is perfect after all, so try and be more forgiving. I know how hard it gets sometimes but you don’t want to loose someone you love without giving them the chance to prove themselves and show you how much they actually care about you.

5. You need to loose yourself in order to find yourself.

6. Unconditional love does not exist. Having said that, I still have some hope left. Even though the Universe has done the impossible to take that hope away, I still have faith. Cuz you know what? This is the way I understand love. But this is not the selfish type. It's the kind that conquers all and gets stronger and stronger with every storm that passes. And if the ego comes in the way? Well then it’s simply not the one.

7. Actions speak a thousand times louder than words. I am someone who doesn’t believe in words. Words don’t mean a single thing if you do nothing to back them up. Remember that the next time you make a promise to someone and give them your word. I know I will.

8. Dreams don’t work unless you do. Always keep pushing, trying and fighting harder. Go get what you want. No one is going to make your dreams come true. The only person responsible for your happiness is you. Chase it and don’t let go. Because otherwise? Well someone may as well hire you to build their dreams. And we don’t want that, do we?

If you’ve come down to here – congratulations and I am sorry for this uber long post. We all know I tend to ramble sometimes. I just really felt the need to share all this with you before I continue on with my regular beauty and lifestyle posts. I feel like I am finally ready to get back to blogging, so keep your eyes peeled for lots of exciting content coming your way. I’ve decided to *attempt* and do Blogmas this year but *shhhh*, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and take things one-step at a time, shall we! See you all tomorrow with some monthly faves and till then I just wanted to say a massive thank you all for reading and making my blog a place full of love. It’s much appreciated!

Lots of love,
Andrea

Dubai In-Flight Beauty Essentials

In Flight Beauty Essentials

So tomorrow I’m en route to Dubai. It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit and I am seriously looking forward to it! I can’t wait to go at the top of Burj Khalifa, swim with dolphins in Atlantis, go on a safari, eat all the delicious food and just dive into the unique culture. The excitement is real! What I am not particularly excited about though is the flight. I hate flying. It’s my biggest fear and I am most probably the worst flyer you’ll ever meet.

Travel anxiety is definitely a thing and what I find helps me a bit to calm down is planning my in-flight beauty companion. These are some of the things that make the whole flying experience a bit more bearable and here are the items I’ll be taking on board with me tomorrow…

Kicking things off with the boring bits, we have a toothbrush and toothpaste already packed in my carry-on. After hours spent glued to my seat, eating unhealthy, carb-loaded plane food, all I want to do is brush my teeth. I’m sure you know the feeling, so in my bag they went. As did some breath strips to help freshen things up mid-flight. Another not particularly exciting, but necessary thing that I never leave the house without is my trusty Tangle Teezer (here), which I cleverly forgot to photograph. The amount of knots I always manage to accumulate during flying is ridiculous, so this little gem makes sure that I don’t look like a crazy lady when I step out of the plane. As much as I like the messy hair look, the state it always gets to on board is just hilarious.

Germs must be kept at bay at all times but there is just something about planes that makes me 10x more cautious, so I like to slather my hands with hand sanitizer multiple times. You can’t beat the ones from Bath & Body Works (here) and I can’t wait to get to Dubai and get my mitts on more autumn-y scents eek! For some added on board moisture, the Antopodes Jubilation hand cream is my best bet. Its lightweight, fast-absorbing formula is ideal for travelling and it completely sorts my really dry skin out. Face wise, I always fly with some sort of moisturizer and the Benefit Total Moisture (here) is my fave. It’s the perfect travel size pot and the actual cream is heavenly. It is the most hydrating cream in my collection, which makes it my preferred choice when flying. My skin always gets really dry and sore on board and this rejuvenates it on the spot.

I like giving my skin a lil’ mid-flight spritz to help me freshen up and the La Roche-Posay Eau Thermale (here) is my fave companion. It makes me feel refreshed and makes my skin look radiant and hydrated. As excessive as it sounds, I never get on board without at least three lip balms to ensure that my lips don’t get dry and chapped. I’ve experiences the super dry & sore post-flying lips and it was painful, so I like to be prepared. I’ve already packed some my ultimate fave *cough NUXE Reve de Miel cough* but the one I’ve also been loving recently is the Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop in Berry Bomb (here). It performs pretty decent on the hydration front (unlike the original Baby Lips) and I love the purple-y pop of color it gives. It’s the perfect post-landing touch as it makes me look a bit more lively.
Perfume is always a must and this time I’m taking my Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy & Viva La Juicy le Fleur duo roll-on. I am in love with La Fleur’s sweet floral scent and it’s the perfect pick-me-up for when you get off the plane.

I always try to get as much sleep as possible on the plane to make the time go by faster. Having said that, a sleeping mask is vital because it help me drift off much quicker. I put the mask and some fuzzy socks on and wrap myself in a huge cozy scarf and I’m usually good to go. It’s my favorite part, apart from the food. Obviously. When things don’t go down so well though and my anxiety is kicking off, I like to rub some of the This Works Stress Less Rollerball (here / review) on my wrists and inhale the vapors. The lovely Eucalyptus & Lavender blend instantly calms down my senses and de-stresses me. It helps me switch off and I can breath easily again. An absolute in-flight essential for everyone with travelling anxiety!

Have you tried any of these products before? What beauty bits do you always get on board with you?

Lots of love,
Andrea

September Favorites

Beauty Favorites

La Roche-Posay Serozinc

benefit high beam

metallic flash tattoos

So September passed by like a flash! Don’t quite know how that happened but autumn is officially here and I couldn’t be more excited. Oversized cozy jumpers, berry lips, crisp air and pumpkin spice lattes. Love. Autumn is hands down my favorite season and the preparations for my fall beauty wardrobe have started in September and the list of my most-loved items goes as follows…

I think it’s safe to say that my skin has never really been as clear and healthy as it is now. Spots have been kept at bay and my complexion is luminous and glowing. I have a post talking about all my skincare faves coming up soon but I think that the good condition of my skin is mainly down to two products. First, we have the GlamGlow Youthmud Mask (here). This baby just rocks and I’m here to tell you that it is as brilliant as everyone else says it is. The mask gently exfoliates the skin, removing all dead skin cells but it also manages to absorb impurities and leave the skin feeling and looking clean. Youthmud minimizes the appearance of my pores, which is something that I really struggle with. The main reason I fell in love with the mask though is because of the way it brightens up and tightens up the skin. It makes the biggest difference and my complexion looks 10x more radiant, toned and lifted. The La Roche-Posay Serozinc* (here) is the latest addition to my daily skincare routine and I’m simply in love with it. It is basically a zinc sulphate solution, which helps cleanse and sooth the skin. I use it as toner, pre-serum and spray it directly on my face. I don’t know what is the magic behind it but it just mattes things down and keeps my complexion spot-free. It’s just brilliant and now you can get your mitts on it from here without a trip to Paris needed. Score.

When I think autumn, red lip always pops in my mind and this past month has all been about the Maybelline Color Drama Velver Pencil in Light It Up (here / review). It’s basically the perfect, easy to slap on red and I’m just smitten. Its bright classic red shade is to die for and I find it suits everyone as it’s not too orange or pink. It’s right in the middle and I love how it compliments my skin tone. It gives me some serious Marilyn Monroe vibes and the formula is spot on as well. Creamy, hydrating, super long-lasting and extremely opaque. Definitely one to check out ladies! Super affordable too.

Nails wise, it’s been tight between Essie Fiji and YSL La Laque Couture in #39 Beige Gallery (here / review) but I think this greige beauty has been sported a bit more this past month. This concrete beige with grey undertones is a total beauty and doesn’t make my hands look like death, which is usually my issue with nudes. Beige Gallery is one of the most classy and sophisticated varnishes in my collection and the creamy, opaque formula is the dream. It applies like charm with its perfectly sized, wide brush and it hangs around for days without chipping. Definitely my fave high-end polish atm!

It might be due to the whole ‘strobing’ craze that’s been going around the beauty community recently but highlights and I are having some serious love-affair right now. The one that’s been gracing my cheekbones the most recently is Benefit High Beam (here). I am all about its pearly pink shade that looks stunning on my cool toned complexion. It’s not too shimmer-laden and just highlights the skin in a really subtle and beautiful way. Just make sure you don’t put too much on as it might look a bit cakey or seep into pores. High Beam highlight applies easily, just work one cheekbone at a time as I find it sets rather quick.

I’m always late to jump on the bandwagon and I just recently discovered the beauty of the flash / metallic tattoos. These boho chic inspired temporary gems have become a night out essential for me and I love having fun with different styles and colors. They look seriously dreamy with tan on and I never fail to feel like a proper bohemian princess wearing them. I love how versatile they look and you can apply them wherever you fancy. I’ve seen people go seriously all out but I just like to add a couple just to compliment my jewelry and outfit for the evening. They apply and remove like a breeze and if you’re looking for something fun to add to your look pre-concert /party / festival - look this way. There are tons of shops where you can get them online, so go have a browse.

Have you tried any of these products before?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Wishlist-ing // Temptist

rosychicc blog

So with a brand new apartment to renovate starting from scratch and a cheeky little trip to Dubai coming up next month, I think it’s safe to say that strings have been tightened in the purse department. I’ve restricted myself to going Space NK crazy recently but let me just tell you that this spending ban has just made everything seem that much more appealing. I’ve caught myself browsing Selfridges and Harvey Nichols’ websites way more that I probably should have, which has only just resulted in me having a mile long wishlist. Typical.

And just when things were getting out of hand I was contacted by a brand new website called Temptist (here), asking me to share the top five items that have been tempting my poor wallet recently. It wasn’t easy but I have somehow managed to narrow them down and here are the lucky winners. We have some beauty, fashion and photography gems thrown in the mix, so head over to have a peek if you fancy. I love the concept behind Temptist as it’s the place where ‘wish lists get social’. You can safe all items you are lusting after in one place and share them with family and friends. It’s really cool, I promise. I’ve even started pinning some Christmas present ideas, it’s never too early right?

temptist site

Oh, and also the lovely people at Temptist are giving away a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick (which I am dyiiiiiiing to get my mitts on btw) to one lucky winner. All you need to do to enter is go to their website, sign up and add the lippy from my tempting items list to yours – easy peasy. Good luck ladies!

What is your number one item that you badly want to treat yourself to?

Lots of love,
Andrea
