Winter likes to take its toll on my skin
every year without a fail and I’m often left with lackluster, dull and
extremely dehydrated skin. Not a cute look, so I like to change up my foundation
routine slightly when the colder months roll around. I like my fuller coverage all
year round but in winter the glowy and healthy finish if what I look for in my
base companions. I do count on it to make me look presentable and like a human
again. Having said that, today I decided to give a little shout-out to my top
three glow-giving winter foundations housed in my base drawer and the list goes
as follows…
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (here)
If you are a regular round these parts, I’m
sure you’re all familiar with my raves of this gem, so I shall be quick. Vitalumiere
Aqua is my all time favorite foundation and it ticks all the boxes. It’s one of
those ‘one product to do all’ bases as it blurs imperfections, illuminates the
skin, stays on for hours and hours and blends seamlessly into the skin. It
gives that flawless healthy look that I’m after but at the same time it feels
featherlight and doesn’t cling to imperfections. I like to apply it with my
Sigma F80 (review) or Zoeva 102 Sink
Finish (here) brushes and it works a
total treat.
Rimmel Wake Me Up (here)
The glow-injecting properties
of this anti-fatigue foundation are what make it a favorite wintertime pick. The
really finely milled shimmer particles running through Wake Me Up add light to
the skin, making it look fresh, bright and healthy. It’s like a complexion
cheerleader and the instant pick-me-up results make it my safest bet on days
when my skin is particularly dull and lifeless. Wake Me Up looks extremely
natural on, almost like a second layer of skin and its incredible medium-to-full
coverage makes all blemishes and imperfections nowhere to be seen. The
foundation hangs around from dusk till dawn and photographs gorgeously as well.
I can’t fault it and I can wholeheartedly label it the best drugstore
foundation I’ve tried. It’s definitely one to check out, ladies!
Okay, I cheated with this one slightly as it
doesn’t give that lovely dewy finish I’m after but I like to slap on some of
the L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer (review)
prior application and I adore the way these two work together and illuminate my skin. On its own HD Invisible
Cover has more of a matte finish and I reach for it when I’m after a full coverage
foundation; it is my bad skin day little rescuer. It is one of those foundations,
which you need the tiniest amount of and it will cover everything with no concealer
needed. It still manages to look really natural and I love how nicely it
blends. The longevity of this HD base doesn’t fall short either and it stays
put until you say so. This flash photography-ready gem is also my special
occasion bbf and I love how beautifully is photographs. My only bugbear is that
it tens to cling to dry patches, so I always make sure my skin is well prepped
and moisturized when I wear it.
Have you tried any of these
foundations? Which is you go-to wintertime base product?
Lots of love,
Andrea
I've tried the Rimmel Wake Me Up and I really like it, although it's slightly dark for me.

ReplyDeletepippibee.blogspot.co.uk xx
I'm obsessed with Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, it always looks so natural and flattering on the skin. For some reason, I absolutely hated the MUFE foundation as it seemed really wishy-washy, despite all the rave reviews I've read. I'll have to find it again and give it another go after reading this post!

Ooooh I really want to try the MUFE HD foundation - I'll definitely keep in mind your trick to use an illuminating primer first. I have dry skin so dewy/glowy/fresh skin is a must.
