Summer is all about rocking a bright and fun lip, am I right ladies? When the base and eye makeup are kept minimal what better way to add a little something-something to your look than to grace your lips with a splash of vibrant, summery color? I’ve rummaged though my stash and managed to narrow down my favorite summertime lip companions to five, so forget about the mainstream nudes and let’s have some fun…
Kicking things off with the lipstick that just screams ‘summer’ to me we have the ever-so-gorgeous MAC Impassioned (here /review). This almost-neon pinky red is your best bet if you fancy dipping your toe into the really bright lipstick pool. It’s super vibrant and bold and that’s exactly why I love it so much. Impassioned has been keeping me well entertained during the warmer months and it’s become a total summer party essential. The formula is spot on and you get beautiful and rich color in one go with no drying or awkward fading involved. What you do get with this gem though is the up to five hours longevity. Impressive, no?
It would’ve been rude not to include my trusty MAC Heroine (here / review) in this post. After all it’s basically me in a lipstick form and if you’re regular down these part you would know how much I love my purple lip. Heroine is the most unique lippy in my collection and its bright violet purple shade is just hauntingly beautiful. It’s fun, it’s unique and paired with a high ponytail, a flowy dress and my fave wedges I feel 10x more confident. The formula is also a winner and even though Heroine is branded as a matte, it actually has beautiful satin finish. The best part though is that it feels rather comfortable on the lips and lasts for decades as well. Love.
I’ve banged on about this YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick in #11 Rose Culte (here / review) on way too much recently, so I won’t bore you with too much details but basically if you’re a fuchsia gal like me and you want to treat yourself to a new high-end lipstick this is your guy. The bright, yet deep fuchsia shade has summertime written all over it and I love that despite being so ‘out there’ it still manages to keep things classy and elegant. The balmy texture of the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks is ideal for the summer weather and I love how moisturizing Rose Culte feels on the lips. Such a gem!
The lipstick I’ve been sporting nearly every day for the past week and the very product I got multiple compliments on recently comes from Rimmel and it’s in the form of the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Matte in 110 (here / review). This beauty is the most perfect bright coral red I’ve ever laid my eyes on the fact that it’s cheap and cheerful floats my boat even more. 110 is ideal for those of you who don’t want to go down the full-on orange route just yet and have something a little more red toned. It is one of the brightest lippies in my stash and oh boy – I just love the neon vibes! The formula is just incredible and all desirable adjectives apply – hydrating, super pigmented, long-lasting and a breeze to apply. I think a trip to Boots is in order ladies - this definitely deserves to be swatched.
Now if you do like your oranges then this NYX Indie Flick (review) is going to make you rather happy. This baby is uber bright, but still wearable and its complexion-warming properties are ideal, especially with tan on. The creamy consistency is fab, the matte finish tickles my fancy as well but my favorite part is the rich, super pigmented color that hangs around for hours and hours. As most matte lippies though, Indie Flick does feel a tad drying but give your lips a lil’ scrub before application and you’ll be good to go.
Have you tried any of these lipsticks? Aren’t they just perfect for the summertime?
Lots of love,
