Greige Love Affair With YSL

YSL La Laque Couture Nail Polish in Beige Gallery

YSL La Laque Couture Nail Polish in 39 Beige Gallery

YSL La Laque Couture Nail Polish in 39 Beige Gallery

‘Greige’ tips… I never thought I’d say that but the oh-so-sophisticated blend of gray and beige has completely captured my heart this season! It’s the perfect twist of the more mainstream nudes and it instantly adds that classy and chic vibe to any outfit I am sporting. I already had a few beige polishes in my collection and just when I didn’t need any more shades I spotted this YSL La Laqua Couture in #39 Beige Gallery (here) and it needed to be popped in my shopping basket. I went home, put my hair up in a bun and applied this gorgeous neutral and a new love relationship started. It was a love of first sight and the warm ‘concrete beige’ shade with strong gray undertones left me absolutely smitten. Even though I am pale as a ghost and my skintone is rather cool, this high-gloss beauty looks stunning and doesn’t wash me out, which is normally an issue with nudes. Beige Gallery is the epitome of sophistication and not only compliments any outfit but being a YSL creation it is the perfect way to add some luxurious touch to your everyday life.

If you’ve ever tried an YSL nail polish you’d know that the quality is pure perfection (as it should be considering the £18.50 price tag #ouch). Even my beloved Essies can’t really compare! But let’s gush about the brush for a moment: It’s the perfect wide brush, that’s slightly curved at the end and which covers the entire nail in just one swipe with no streaks involved. It dispenses the right amount of product and magically keeps the cuticles nice and clean. The formula itself is brilliant as it’s neither too thick, nor too watery and the polish just goes on beautifully. With Beige Gallery I find that two coats are needed to get the color fully opaque and even but since the drying time is minimal it fine by me. Plus, any excuse I have to admire the incredible YSL packaging is welcomed! The longevity of this gorgeous greige is decent and I find that without top coat is hangs around for four days with minor chipping and tip wear. If you fancy rocking Beige Gallery from Sunday to Sunday though just pop on some top coat (my fave here) and just admire Beige Gallery in all its glory for a whole week.

Have you tried Beige Gallery before? Which is your favorite ‘greige’ nail polish?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners in Eastend Snob and Obsession

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob and Obsession

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob and Obsession Swatches
L-R: Eastend Snob, Obsession
Confession time! Lipsticks are no longer my one true love and they have been replaced by lip liners. There, I said it. But there is just something that they do to my confidence that no lipstick could ever do and over the past few months I’ve accumulated quite a few new shades with all sorts of formulas. The Essence ones (here) are fab, Mac Soar (here) is blommin’ marvelous but the ones that I am having a love affair as of late have been these Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners in Eastend Snob (here) and Obsession (here). And oh boy, they are nice! Allow me to explain…

These little gems are not only wallet-friendly but they definitely measure up to my high-end MAC and MUFE bad boys. Formula wise, they do tick all the boxes. Soft and creamy formula that just glides on? Check. Amazing pigmentation that goes opaque in just one swipe. Check. No drying out the lips and leaving them feel comfortable? Double check. With The Rimmel Exaggerate lip liners you don’t have to worry much about them settling into fine lines or imperfections, although I’d still advise you to give your lips a quick scrub before you swipe these on. Oh and when you do – be prepared for at least five hours of picture perfect and even wash of color. These babies know how to stay on and not budge! The twist-up applicator actually floats my boat as well, as I hate everything that I need to sharpen – love.

The Rimmel Exaggerate lip liners come in various stunning shades but the ones that I picked up are Eastend Snob and Obsession. If you are after a more affordable Kylie Jenner lip then you are in for a treat with Eastend Snob. Even though it’s not an exact dupe of her signature brownish pout, this beauty still has that KJ vibe with its gorgeous soft mauve pink shade and fully matte finish. It makes the lips look 10x fuller and plumper and it’s my not-so-secret confidence booster partner in crime. You can slightly overdraw you lips if that’s something you favor or you could just follow their natural line but either way – the results are fab and your lips will look bigger and better! It’s my new favorite nude, that’s for sure! Obsession on the other hand is a lovely deep brick red shade, which looks especially beautiful paired with a vampy red (Rimmel Kate 107 (here), I am looking at you!). I am a bit over the darker shades and I’m ready to embrace the spring / summer corals and pinks but I’m sure that when autumn roll around this baby will be twisted up and swiped on daily. I am head over heels in love with its matte finish and its complexion-warming benefits and even though I expected Obsession to be more purple we actually formed a good friendship! So I guess now it’s the time I urge you to go and pick up a few shades of these godsend lip miracles, right? Well, you really need to – they simply rock!

Have you tried the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners before? Which shade is your favorite?

Lots of love,

Good Skin In A Bottle // First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

Falling in love with one of those old school foaming cleansers when my stash is filled to the brim with all sorts of high-end cleansing balms was quite the surprise but I guess from now on I shouldn’t be this narrow-minded when it comes to skincare! Ever since I got my mitts on the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (here) all my luxurious cleansers have been put on the bench and let me tell ya – my skin has never felt more clear, radiant and balanced. I don’t know how the magic actually works but the results are literally mind-blowing. And usually I am not easily impressed when it comes to skincare.

The FAB Cleanser works a total treat and it’s being used both in the morning and at night. It does a fantastic job at removing all traces of makeup and dirt and leaves the skin squeaky clean, minus the tight feeling part. I was actually pleasantly surprised that this gem doesn’t dry out or strip the skin but rather makes it feel comfortable and nicely soothed. The Face Cleanser doesn’t leave any residue, evens out my skin tone beautifully and it is left feeling really soft and smooth. I love how even on the most bad skin days this beauty manages to calm everything down and get rid of the majority of the redness or irritation – love. Oh, and on top of everything it minimizes the appearance of my pores too, which you know I have issues with.

The First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser is targeted mainly at people with sensitive skin and even though mine falls into the normal/combination category, I must report that this product has never irritated my skin, nor caused breakouts – quite on the contrary actually. The amazing fragrance-free concoction of the cleanser is extremely light and gentle and a little goes a long way. You need the tiniest bit of the airy cream to make it form a nice lather, which allows you to really work the product into the skin and treat it to a nice lil’ massage. The FAB cleanser is infused with a blend of botanical antioxidants that protect the skin as well – how amazing! So do you need this cleanser in your life? Absolutely! It might not be the most exciting or pampering addition to your skincare stash bit it does work absolute wonders and I will definitely get the fill-size tube when this one runs out. Hello new Holy Grail cleanser!

Have you tried the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser before? Which is you HG cleanser?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation // Review

If you are a regular round these parts you may be well aware that I take my foundations very seriously. Having said that, when I heard that Lancome are the first western beauty brand to adopt the oh-so-popular Korean cushion foundation technology I was chuffed to bits. If you are not familiar with those cushion-based gems, basically they are like foundation compacts with super unique fluid capture technology formula, which promises to be a BB cream-style ‘makeup with skincare benefits’ hybrid. The cushion foundations are supposed to make the skin naturally radiant, flawless and beautifully hydrated, which is everything I could ask for really. But does the Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation* (here) live up to the expectations? Let’s discuss…

In short – yes, it bloomin’ does! From the cool, futuristic packaging to the somewhat odd and gooey texture of the foundation – I am sold. The MCF is made specifically to suit ever woman’s needs – offering both lighter and fuller coverage, letting you choose which look to sport today. Amazing! And if you are still wondering how the Miracle Cushion Foundation actually works I shall explain: Basically, all you need to do is take the super soft and gentle sponge that come with the compact, press it down the cushion and apply the obtained color all over your face and neck – simples. If you are after more natural finish press lighter or if you fancy fuller coverage (like I do) just press the applicator deeper and voila – hello flawless complexion!  You could easily build the Cushion foundation up to lovely medium coverage which I couldn’t be happier about! Apart from the hidden imperfections though, this beauty evens out the skin tone and makes my pores from pretty noticeable to barely-there as well.

I am not a huge fan of matte finishes in general, so when I applied the Miracle Cushion Foundation for the first time I was smitten by its gorgeous satin finish, which makes the skin look luminous and the right amount of dewy, minus the oily part. The up to four hours hydration and supple skin effects are my favorite part, as well as the cooling fresh sensation you get when you apply the foundation – the perfect morning pick me up. The airy, soft and bouncy texture of Miracle Cushion feels featherlight and goes evenly and blends beautifully into the skin. Oh and in case all those praises aren’t enough, let me just tell you that this beauty has SPF 23 and photographs beautifully regardless.

This innovative cushion compact definitely changed the foundation game for me and I love how quick and easy it is to achieve complexion perfection that lasts all day without budging. Miracle Cushion is really long lasting and the cool thing about it is that you can layer it throughout the day in order to inject some more moisture and keep everything fresh and healthy, but never cakey. Talk about fab beauty technologies! If you fancy giving the Miracle Cushion Foundation a try you should know that it is refillable and  comes in 6 shades that are supposed to compliment all skin tones from the fairest to the deepest (I have shade #2 Beige Rose and it’s a great match for my skin). I feel like I need to mention that the only thing I am not sure about the cushion foundation is the hygene issue. The fact that you can’t really wash the applicator makes me a bit worried that it might eventually start causing breakouts and skin irritation but I’ll keep you posted on that, so stay tuned! Even if it does though you can always use a brush, which btw makes the finish evenly gorgeous!

Have you tried the Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation yet? Is it something you are interested in trying?

Lots of love,
Andrea

My Perfect Nude Lipstick // MAC Brave

MAC Brave Lipstick

MAC Brave Lipstick

MAC Brave Lipstick

MAC Brave Lipstick

At this point you are all probably sick of me talking about ‘The Kylie Jenner Lip’ but I just can’t help it – it’s just too beautiful and I can’t stop sporting it on a daily basis. And trust me – no one is more surprised I got sucked into the hype then I am. I wasn’t very big on nude lips but with MAC Soar (here) added to my stash the obsession got real. Today’s gem though is a little bit different to miss Jenner’s typical matte brownish pout and it’s a lot more wearable, everyday option for anyone that fancies dipping their toe into the 90s nude lip pool. Brave (here) is a stunning pinky nude brown shade that compliments both lighter and deeper skin tones beautifully and has that ‘my lips but 10x better’ thing written all over. Its gorgeous rosy tint is something anyone could fall in love with and the easy to slap on, low-maintenance color will be sure to get you lots of compliments. It’s tried and tested. Plus, if you want something that will make you look more lively and put together forget about the old school ‘concealer nudes’ and go swatch Brave. Just go.

It’s safe to say that in less then two months Brave managed to bump off the top spot all my other MAC lippies and is now my absolute favorite. The oh-so-gorgeous shade is the main reason but the formula definitely helps too. Brave has a beautiful satin finish and just glides on like charm. It feels really hydrating and buttery and you can even skip the scrub if you’re in a rush. This beauty has medium coverage but could definitely be build up to a deeper shade. The longevity is my only bugbear as it stays put for only two hours but the no-mirror-required application makes everything less faffy and quicker. If you are after something longer lasting though you could always pop some lip liner underneath and my favorite combos involve MAC Soar (here) and Rimmel Eastend Snob (here). Both compliment Brave beautifully and make the lips look extra full and plump. Love.

Have you tried Brave before? Which is your favorite nude lipstick at the moment?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Valentine’s Day Beauty

Valentine's day romantic makeup products

No makeup makeup products

Physicians Formula Happy Booster heart blush

Minimal eye makeup products

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob

Miss Dior perfume and Essie Fiji nail polish

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and even though I am not its biggest fan and rarely actually acknowledge it, I figured it would be fun to show you the makeup I would go for if I was headed on a date with a special someone. I gathered all my guy friends asking them what type of beauty look they are most into and this time notes were takes. Apparently, the minimal, subtle makeup is the way to go for, so ditch the heavy contouring à la Kim K and embrace your natural beauty ladies. Glowing complexion, a dash of mascara and a touch or pink is all you need, so I rummaged though my stash and picked as few bits that scream no-makeup-makeup but at the same time beautifully enhance our features. Let’s discuss…

Starting with the base, this Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Cream* (here) is my best friend when it comes to achieving natural complexion. It has light to medium coverage but still covers imperfections and evens out my skin tone. It blends beautifully and has gorgeous dewy finish that makes the skin radiant and healthy-looking. For concealer, the Benefit Fake Up (here) is my best bet when it comes to brightening the under eye area. It instantly eliminates the signs of fatigue and covers those dark circles perfectly. Fake Up illuminates everything under eyes, while keeping everything hydrated and crease-free. To set everything in place I always opt for my Chanel Les Beiges Powder (here / review), which not only keeps the oils at bay and prevents the foundation and concealer slide off my face but also adds a touch of sheer healthy glow to the skin. No powdery finish, no dry patches accentuated and no pores in sight as well, which I am not complaining about!

To add some dimension to the face I like to call my trusty Sleek Contour Kit (here) to the rescue. I use a touch of the bronzing powder all over my face to warm things up and then gently place some under my cheekbones to help me create the illusion of slimmer face. Slight cheating but shhh, no one has to know! I especially love the bronzer because it doesn’t look muddy and blends effortlessly. For blush, the Physician Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Pink (here / review) is ideal as it adds all the right amounts of pink on the cheeks and highlights them beautifully at the same time. It’s the ultimate brightening blush and I love how it peps up my skin – stuningggg!

Brows need to be taken care of even on the most subtle makeup days but to keep things more natural I opt for the Benefit Gimme Brow* (here / review). This brow volumizing fiber gel makes my oh-so-space brows look fuller and more defied, while keeping the hairs in place from dusk till dawn. I’m not too sure that full-on smoke eye is the best idea when it comes to dates, so I like to keep things more natural and to help me with that I like to use this Too Faced Eye Shadow in Magic Mushroom (here / review). This is easily the most stunning and unique eye shadow I own and I am absolutely smitten by its light rose gold shade. It opens up the look and reflects the light beautifully and I love how creamy and long-lasting it is – perfect date night companion. For mascara, I always go for my Holy Grail - Too Faced LashGASM (here). It ticks all the boxes and offers amazing volume, perfect separation, incredible length and it hold curl as well. You can see it in action here and I also love how black it makes my lashes- total winner.

For lips I wanted something between romantic and sultry and the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob (here) is the perfect option. Its mauve pink shade gives me the Kylie Jenner feels and instantly turns anyone into a bombshell. It’s a massive confidence booster, making the lips bigger and fuller and the matte, unbudgeable formula is brilliant (and kiss-proved ;).

We gotta paint those nails and the one most beautiful, feminine and classy polish I have is Essie Fiji (here / review). It’s bloomin’ marvelous and I love everything about its elegant milky pink shade, which compliments every outfit and makes my hands look tan. Perfume is always a bit tricky but when it comes to dates with my boyfriend Miss Dior by Dior (here) is what I reach out for the most. It’s a beautiful scent that makes you dream of romantic walks down Champs-Élysées and the youthful, sophisticated fruity notes capture my heart every time I spritz myself with it.

Which are some of your date night beauty essentials? Do you have anything special planned for V-day?

Lots of love,
Andrea

January Beauty Favorites

beauty favorites: mac soar lip pencil, mac brave lipstick, mac heroine, guerlain meteorites, ysl nail polish mauve naif, first aid beauty facial radiance pads

guerlain meteorites pearles in 02 Clair

mac soar lip pencil and mac brave lipstick

mac heroine lipstick and YSL nail polish in 16 mauve naif

January might be over but one thing is for sure – I have never been as excited to share my monthly favorites as I am today eep! This past month really did treat me nicely on the beauty front and I have discovered some pretty amazing gems that I cannot rave about enough! My love for lip liners deepened as I managed to get my mitts on MAC Soar, a new lip combo with it has been taking place, purple lips and I are now bffs and I found the way to cheat the system Photoshop-style with one uber luxurious face product. Oh and I have a new addition to my skincare stash, which you *need* in your life pronto! Yep, it’s been a good month, let’s discuss…

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads (here)
January was the month that I finally got introduced to First Aid Beauty as a brand and let me just say - I am smitten. I got this set here and so far I am loving all products but the one that stood out to me the most is definitely this jar of perfection as I like to call it. Ever since I heard Caroline Hirons talk about the Radiance Pads I wanted to try them but I was a bit on the fence about using AHA exfoliants. I am definitely a newbie when it comes to these types of toners but I honestly couldn’t have been more impressed and you can now put me in to the ‘full-time acid exfoliant addict’ list. Basically, the FAB Radiance Pads are pre-soaked in a blend of lactic and glycolic acid and they leave the skin feel extremely soft and smooth. I like to use the pads at night as a toner and pre-moisturizer and I love how toned and radiant my skin looks in the morning. My pores are minimized as well and I love how much smoother my foundation goes on – love. The Facial Radiance Pads are suitable for all skin types and they are really mild and gentle with no stringing involved – perfect for us AHA exfoliants beginners!

Guerlain Meteorites Pearles in 02 Clair (here)
What? A makeup product that airbrushes the skin and it’s virtually like Photoshop for your face? Yes, that’s the best way I could describe the magic that these godsend pearls work and to say that I am in love would be a serious understatement! The Guerlain Meteorites are in their own little category as they are not highlighter, or setting powder as many people seem to think. They fall into the finishing powder category but I have never used anything quite like them. These little balls of loveliness minimize the pores, even out the skin tone beautifully, reduce redness (thanks to the minty pearls in 02 Clair) and above all – make the skin look healthy and add gorgeous inner glow that looks oh-so-natural and stunning. The Meteorites just blur everything and transform the skin from dull to happy in one swirl of the brush. I’ve been using them daily for the past month and they are such a little treat and I just adore how smoother and luminous my skin looks – looooove! P.S Full review coming up soon.

MAC Soar Lip Liner & MAC Brave Lipstick Combo (here / here)
Basically January consisted of me sporting MAC Soar almost every single day without fail and you can read more about my love for it here. Yep, I am one of those ladies that completely got sucked into the Kylie Jenner lip craze but you know – yolo haha. To spice things up a bit though I have been pairing the stunning mid tone pinky brown liner with MAC Brave and it’s definitely my favorite new lip combo. Brave is the perfect deeper pinky nude lipstick and compliments Soar beautifully. Both combined make the ultimate 90s lip and I love how the lippy makes the finish softer, a tad lighter and somewhat juicier. These bad boys make my lips look 10x bigger and plumper and hang around for hours and hours. Quite the dream team!

MAC Heroine Lipstick (review / here)
When I was giving the Jenner babe look a miss I have been rocking the purple lip. Quite the bold choice but you know how much I favour my daring lip products and this beauty got me hooked with the first application. Heroine is without a doubt the most unique lippy I own and I am head over heels in love with its bright violet purple shade. It’s edgy and feminine and makes every look and outfit that much more exciting, while making my green eyes pop. Heroine ticks all the boxes in the formula department as well and you can see me wearing it here. How beautiful!?

YSL Nail Polish in #16 Mauve Naif (here)
Continuing with the purple theme, the nail polish that has been pretty much glued to my tips in January is this gorgeous YSL baby. What makes it that special? Well the fact that it is true deep purple – it doesn’t go black as you layer it on and you can actually see its stunning shade on all sorts of lighting, which I find rare with dark purples. Mauve Faif stole my heart with its easy to apply formula that dries to a lovely high-shine finish and which stays put for some good five days. Oh and don’t even get me started on the brush – big and wide that covers the nail with one swipe. Brilliant.

Have you tried any of these products before? What have you been obsessing over for the past four weeks?

Lots of love,
Andrea

Introducing Cohorted Beauty Box

Cohorted Beauty Box

Cohorted Beauty Box

I do love companies that think outside of the box and Cohorted (here) is definitely one of them. If you are not familiar with the concept of their website it basically specializes in providing a small selection of discounted, more-budget friendly high end cult beauty products. Ever since they launched in March last year they have made it their mission to create, as I like to call it, a mini discount heaven for all us beauty lovers. Every Monday without fail I log in to check which are the new four beauty gems available and see the prices drop as more people join the ‘cohort’. It’s such a cool concept and you can read all about it here but now let’s discuss the exciting announcement – Cohorted are launching their own beauty box. And it’s a good’un.

I’m afraid I will have to keep the products in the box hush hush for now but let me tell ya- they are all bloomin’ marvelous! Think £67.50 worth of products from some of our favorite premium beauty brands. There are five products in total and they’re a nice mix of makeup and skincare (one particularly luxurious and exciting). There are 3 full size products and two deluxe samples and honestly I love the look of them all and can’t wait to give them a whirl. I’m well excited to be possibly adding a few new bits to my routine!

I must say that the Cohorted Beauty Box* is the first box I’ve tried in years and it definitely restored my faith in them. The box itself is beautifully made and has very luxurious and sophisticated feel to it, which only preps you for all the fab treats inside. All of you from the UK will be able to get your mitts on a box from February 9 from the Cohorted website (priced at £19.99) and since there will be only a hundred boxed up for grabs I suggest you work fast – you won’t regret it! Oh, and there will be five lucky boxes, which will contain the oh-so-special and gorgeous Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette! How amazing!

Are you excited for the Cohorted Beauty Box?

Lots of love,
Andrea
