So tomorrow I’m en route to Dubai. It’s a
place I’ve always wanted to visit and I am seriously looking forward to it! I
can’t wait to go at the top of Burj Khalifa, swim with dolphins in Atlantis, go
on a safari, eat all the delicious food and just dive into the unique culture. The
excitement is real! What I am not
particularly excited about though is the flight. I hate flying. It’s my biggest fear and I am most probably the worst
flyer you’ll ever meet.
Travel anxiety is definitely a thing and
what I find helps me a bit to calm down is planning my in-flight beauty
companion. These are some of the things that make the whole flying experience a
bit more bearable and here are the items I’ll be taking on board with me tomorrow…
Kicking things off with the boring bits, we
have a toothbrush and toothpaste
already packed in my carry-on. After hours spent glued to my seat, eating
unhealthy, carb-loaded plane food, all I want to do is brush my teeth. I’m sure
you know the feeling, so in my bag they went. As did some breath strips to help
freshen things up mid-flight. Another not particularly exciting, but necessary
thing that I never leave the house without is my trusty Tangle Teezer (here),
which I cleverly forgot to photograph. The amount of knots I always manage to
accumulate during flying is ridiculous, so this little gem makes sure that I
don’t look like a crazy lady when I step out of the plane. As much as I like
the messy hair look, the state it always gets to on board is just hilarious.
Germs must be kept at bay at all times but
there is just something about planes that makes me 10x more cautious, so I like
to slather my hands with hand sanitizer multiple times. You can’t beat the ones
from Bath & Body Works (here) and I can’t wait to get to Dubai
and get my mitts on more autumn-y scents eek! For some added on board moisture,
the Antopodes Jubilation hand cream is my best bet. Its lightweight,
fast-absorbing formula is ideal for travelling and it completely sorts my
really dry skin out. Face wise, I always fly with some sort of moisturizer and
the Benefit Total Moisture (here) is my fave. It’s the perfect
travel size pot and the actual cream is heavenly. It is the most hydrating
cream in my collection, which makes it my preferred choice when flying. My skin
always gets really dry and sore on board and this rejuvenates it on the spot.
I like giving my skin a lil’ mid-flight spritz
to help me freshen up and the La
Roche-Posay Eau Thermale (here) is
my fave companion. It makes me feel refreshed and makes my skin look radiant
and hydrated. As excessive as it sounds, I never get on board without at least
three lip balms to ensure that my lips don’t get dry and chapped. I’ve
experiences the super dry & sore post-flying lips and it was painful,
so I like to be prepared. I’ve already packed some my ultimate fave *cough NUXE
Reve de Miel cough* but the one I’ve also been loving recently is the Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop in Berry Bomb (here). It performs pretty decent on the hydration front (unlike the
original Baby Lips) and I love the purple-y pop of color it gives. It’s the
perfect post-landing touch as it makes me look a bit more lively.
Perfume is always a must and this time I’m
taking my Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy
& Viva La Juicy le Fleur duo roll-on. I am in love with La Fleur’s
sweet floral scent and it’s the perfect pick-me-up for when you get off the
plane.
I always try to get as much sleep as
possible on the plane to make the time go by faster. Having said that, a sleeping mask is vital because it help
me drift off much quicker. I put the mask and some fuzzy socks on and wrap
myself in a huge cozy scarf and I’m usually good to go. It’s my favorite part, apart
from the food. Obviously. When things
don’t go down so well though and my anxiety is kicking off, I like to rub some
of the This Works Stress Less Rollerball
(here / review) on my wrists and inhale the vapors. The lovely Eucalyptus
& Lavender blend instantly calms down my senses and de-stresses me. It
helps me switch off and I can breath easily again. An absolute in-flight
essential for everyone with travelling anxiety!
Have you tried any of these
products before? What beauty bits do you always get on board with you?
Lots of love,
Andrea
