Life Update // New Home, Getting Engaged and The Best Holiday in Santorini

Well it’s been a long time, hasn’t it? The last time I sat down and actually wrote a blog post feels like forever ago. And it kind of was. It’s no secret that I kind of fell out of love with blogging over the past year or so, but I’m not going to lie – my life feels a bit empty without it. So here I am, trying to restore my love for blogging and it actually feels good to just sit and pour my feeling into a piece of paper. And what a better way to come back into the swing of things than give you all a little life update! So many things have happened recently that I just need to share! And yes, you guessed it right – I got ENGAGED but that’s not all of it. Allow me to explain…

Our New Home

If you’ve been following me for a while you would know that Alex and I bought our very first place a while ago. Since then, we’ve been saving up so that we can design the home of our dreams. Buying a new build home is great as you have a plain canvas to work with but it also means that it’s quite expensive as the place is virtually empty. We didn’t even have interior doors or flooring. Obviously creating the perfect home is a lot of work and it took us over a year to do everything the way we wanted it. Oh, the stress! But it was all worth it in the end and we’ve been living here for over a month now. Yay!

And we are happy! Happiest we’ve ever been actually! Living with my parent for the past 7 years was hard (even though my parents are the best it’s just not practical after you hit a certain age) and the feeling of freedom is just incredible! I feel so much more independent and like an actual adult, which I really needed. If you’ve been living with your parent for a while you’ll know exactly what I mean.

We still have some bits and bobs to perfect in order for the place to be absolutely done but its’ mostly decorative and we’re almost there. It’s been so much fun designing everything from scratch but I wouldn’t be able to do it without apps like Pinterest and Houzz. They gave me all the inspo! I’ll definitely do a full house tour post soon, so you can see all the before and after but I must say, I’m quite pleased how it all turned out! Especially the kitchen – it’s my dream kitchen and I LOVE it! (Sorry for the poor photo quality of the photos but I had to take them with my phone as I couldn't get the right lighting).

Santorini a.k.a. Paradise

Two weeks after we’ve moved in, Alex and I headed to Santorini. It’s been a dream of mine to visit and I’m happy to say that it was everything I’d hoped for, and more! It’s just Paradise, especially Oia. It’s the absolute bloggers dream from the white and pastel shades, to the stunning views of the Caldera and the famous blue domed churches. Even writing this makes me want to come back so badly!

It was our best holiday up to date and I must say that massive part of this was our hotel and the people who work there! We stayed at Villa Katikies (here) and I just fell in love with everything. Having a private Jacuzzi on our terrace where we could enjoy the beautiful shades of the sea whilst sipping on cocktails was a dream come true. The town itself was absolutely stunning in every way possible and the restaurants there are on another level. The food was simply incredible! And the sunset? Yes, it’s as amazing as everyone says it is – romantic and breathtaking!

Some of the days we rented a car to go around the island and cruising down the Santorini streets and exploring was one of the highlights of our trip. I feel like I need to dedicate a whole post to Santorini as a paragraph or two are just not enough, so keep your eyes peeled for a little guide coming your ways soon. But for now, you can head over to my Instargram to have a peek at the photos I managed to snap whilst we were there - @rosychicc (here).

We Got Engaged!!

After almost 8 years we’ve been together, Alex put a ring on it and it was perfect. I know how cheesy that sounds but it’s true. It happened when we were in Santorini, in our hotel room. He had arranged the whole thing with the hotel manager and she went out of her way to make everything perfect for us. Firstly, Alex took me to a really nice restaurant (Lauda, which I HIGHLY recommend) and whilst we were enjoying our company Eirini, the manager, set the whole room and turned it into the most romantic place and when we entered I knew what was about to happen.

Alex was worried that proposing in a hotel room with roses and champagne is a bit cheesy, but for me it was perfect. We are quite private people and I wouldn’t want to have others around me in one of the most special moments in our life. It really was the most special moment and one I know will remember with a slime of my face forever! I am so happy and still can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that soon I’ll marry the love of my life! Feel so surreal still. And also – the ring! How simple, yet beautiful and elegant it is! Boy did good, I must give him that!

We need to start planning our wedding asap as we want to do it this year eek! Yes, I know it’s quite soon and maybe seems rushed to some, but we have personal reasons for that, so it will have to happen this October. We set the date last week and now I am preparing mentally for all the craziness that’s about to follow. Dress, shoes, guests, the venue, the wedding invitations – my head is about to explode only thinking of it haha! It’s a good thing we want to have a really small wedding though, with just our closest family and friends, so it should be okay. Also, we have started thinking of our Honeymoon destination, so if you have any ideas please let me know in the comments :)

So that’s the last few months of my life wrapped up for you. I hope you enjoyed this more personal post as I am quite new to this, but I’m looking forward to creating some new content very soon!

Lots of love,
