Here we go again… Come January and my skin instantly goes “Yeah, I’m going to get as dull and lackluster as I possibly can, so let’ see how you like that”. Well, I don’t. And every year I need to whip out all of my glow-getters and slap them on my face until I look like a human again. I mean, there is no such thing as ‘too much glow, is it? Hopefully not, but I like to be prepared and these gems below have all been helping me get some of my glow back…
I do love a good illuminating primer and my current faves are the Benefit That Gal (here) and L’Oreal Lumi Magique (here). Both absolutely gorgeous and instantly add life to my skin. That Gal leans more of the pink-y side of things, whereas the L’Oreal offering has pearly white shade. They both have natural satin finish and prep the skin beautifully, making it even and smooth. I love them both but if I had to pick just one, I’d go for Lumi Magique as it doubles as liquid highlight. Pop it on your cheekbones and it instantly lifts things up. Beautiful.
Continuing the liquid highlight theme, I have to mention Benefit Girl Meets Pearl (here). The gorgeous pearlescent rose gold shade is absolutely beautiful and I use it daily without fail. I must have gone through tones of minis and I will definitely get the full size when I run out because I am obsessed. It blends seemlessly into the skin making it look ‘lit from within’ without adding shimmer or glitter. It is very subtle and perfect for days when I want things to look natural but still dewy and fresh. Sometimes I like to top it off with a powder highlight to make things extra glow-y.
If I am going for a little bit extra glow, then the Soap & Glory Glow All Out Luminizing Face Powder (here) is the one. I’ve talked about it loads and it’s still a firm favorite of mine. It is the most subtle highlight in my collection and it won’t get you that ‘Instagram-highlight’ kinda look but that’s exactly why I love it. It just adds light and natural-looking glow to the skin without being obvious. It instantly perks up my complexion, making it look healthy and radiant. The buttery soft formula is incredible and you can read all about it here.
I recently added a new member to the complexion cheerleader squad and it’s in the form of The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer (here). When I am after that sort of ‘wet’ champagne-y highlight look I always reach for this baby. This one is one of the noticeable, more in-your-face ones and I am obsessed with it! It might not be my go-to product for everyday use but for nights out or special occasions it’s just perfect. It ticks all the boxes – show stopping glow, blendable and long lasting. If you get one of the products mention here, make it this one! It’s a keeper! *Currently on sale here.*
To add a finishing sprinkle of faux-glow, I’ve been using my beloved Guerlain Meteorites Pearls (here). Essentially, this is like a finishing powder, which you swirl across your face once you’ve done your whole makeup. It not only visibly ‘airbrushes’ your skin and makes it look perfected but it adds a touch of radiance and luminosity to the complexion and makes it look super healthy and dewy. I just love how luxurious the Meteorites feel on, they are such a treat and my skin is loving the glow!
Have you tried any of these products? Which is your favorite glow-getting product at the moment?
Lots of love,
